radiators - is it okay to have 2 different types?

    Hi,
    We're replumbing the entire house with new heating throughout. We'd like to upgrade to a nicer looking rad downstairs but we're wondering if its okay to have a more standard upstairs with the upgraded one downstairs?

    Upstairs: Quinn Compact
    Downstairs: Henrad Everest

    Any down sides to this arrangement?

    No it will make no difference as long as all rads are correctly sized for the heat output you want.

    What I mean is a 500x500 Quinn radiator may have a different heat output than a 500x500 Everest Radiator.

    As long as you double check the heat output is correct for each room there should be no issue.

    So there is no difference with flow or efficiency or anything like that? Even if rads in same zone are different type?

    None at all, you could mix steel, aluminium and cast iron rads in a circuit and there would be no problem

    The flow could be slightly different in one type of rad from the other, and the efficiency could be it wont affect the rest of the system. this is accounted for in the Heat Output of the rads which are calculated by the manufacturer you don't need to worry about this just work off manufacturers spec sheet.

    Your main concern should ensuring that you or your contractor or architect have calculated the heat losses from the rooms correctly and are picking the right output radiators to suit.
