Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Paying for Luas tickets

    Hi :)

I went to pay for my Luas ticket, at the Stephen's Green Stop, with my Laser card this morning, but it was rejected three times, at two different machines.

I just stuck the card in after selecting the type of ticket I wanted (Combi 7-day), and it looked to be reading, then it just told me payment rejected, remove card.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Do I have to register the card with Luas people?

There was definitely money in there, because I went to the shop and got smokes, popcorn, ribena and a ticket in there.

Also, why do the shop bought combis have to be used in a Bus first?

The ticket wasn't checked on the way this morning, but if it's checked this evening will I get grief? I have another combi that ran out yesterday in my wallet.

I would assume it due to the fact that the bus ticket reader can validate the ticket and print the date/time it was first used.

The luas doesn't have anything like that afaik, so if you used it on the luas it would never be validated and you could use it forever as there would be no start point on the ticket.

    Ah right, fair enough.

I can show that I buy a new ticket every week though, so if I get a nice ticket dude, I should be ok. I have at least two months worth of tickets in my wallet. :)

When I Luas'ed the machine randomly rejected my Mastercard at times, try a different TVM/different side of the platform next time. Rialto, Tallaght-bound *never* worked, for instance.

There was a plan at some stage to fit the Wayfarer ticket validators that you see on the buses in shops that sell LUAS tickets so customers so validate them without getting on a bus if they wished to do so. Never seems to have happened.

No it hasn't happened as of yet. It is on the cards though. As another poster suggested above, try the opposite platform. If it doesn't work get in contact with luas and find out what the story is. It isn't your fault that the machines won't accept your card, they will probably send someone out to fix them as soon as they are made aware of it.
