Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fitting Inline extractor Fan - Bathroom

    Hi,

    I'm considering installing an inline fan due to some recent mould issues in the bathroom. We are not in the house enough during the day to open windows or when having a shower we don't stay in the house long enough to leave the window open to vent all the steam, the air is not circulating enough.

    I've decided the inline fan approach with a vent in the ceiling, the fan positioned in the attic venting out somewhere in the roof. I also want the fan to be wired to the light switch.

    I live in a terraced house (if that matters). I'm not sure how easy or not it would be to vent the steam out of the roof. Would anyone have a rough idea of cost to do a job like this? Are we looking at an electrician and a builder to do this?

    Decent enough. I'm less concerned about the wiring, though never never messed around with roof tiles.

    No need to mess around with any roof riles. Get a 100mm hole saw and drill a hole through the bottom of the fascia board from outside.

    You can buy the whole extractor kit from any of the big DIY stores.

    In total, should cost you less than €100.

    vent out the wall,if you don't have double glazing you could go out window

    The OP needs to know the volume of his bathroom before he goes and buys any inline fan kit.OP needs to measure length width and heigth iof room and them multiply these figures together to get the volume.Avoid the kits in diy stores and go to a propper ventilation shop or suppliers.ATC Ventilation in Balymount and great people to deal with.
