Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon 30th August

    Anyone else going to do this or have feedback from previous years?

    Going to use it as a tune-up race 7 weeks out from Amsterdam Marathon

    Not sure. Toying with the idea at the moment. I'm signed up for the Frank Duffy 10 mile the week before, and the Phoenix Park HM three weeks after. I'll have to see how the training is coming along the next while, and then decide if I can (or want to) add it in to my schedule.

    I did it last year. All in all I would recommend it. Really liked the club feel to it. Bit tight in starting area so make sure you're well positioned.
    Liked the idea of finishing with a lap of the track, a novelty for a newby runner like I was.
    Nice area to warm up and have a chat in the grounds of the club just of the road where the start was. Plenty of parking as well. From memory, there was a few rolling hills but nothing excessive :)

    i ran it last year. a fair course with a few drags but no hills. very well organised with super friendly marshals and great food afterwards.

    Planning on doing it...have the 10 miler in PP wk before also. Sounds like decent club race which I like to support.

    Really enjoyed this one last year. Real club feeling to it. For 25 euro I got a great day. Parking was simple. Really well organised. Course is a real neg split course. 2nd half been easier. I put this race very close to the dungarvan 10 that how highly I rate it. Showers after it. 63 miles from my house and I would travel to this without a thought. Food after it was top class and I mean plenty of whatever you wanted. They even had chairs outside to sit down. Finish in The track is a nice touch. 5 stars for me. Proves that you don't have to rip of people to run a great event. I love supporting club events

    Only two weeks to go now. I did it last year, great run, very well organised from very good facility, food and showers after so you won't go home starving and stinking. Nice course too, no long inclines.. all said one of the better halfs' in the calender.

    Have signed up myself. It's 4 weeks out from the Berlin marathon but I reckon I'll give it a bit of a go anyway to see where I'm at with my training and pacing. Will be a good test! I'm looking forward to it now after all the positive reviews.

    It's good value at €25, even if I do have to drive half way across the country to get there. There's hardly a t-shirt, is there?

    There was last year. My favourite t-shirt to wear now actually.

    Registration 10-11am @ 35euro.

    Ran 1:23:33. Over the moon with result as didn't leave it all on the course. Full report to come after I come off the high. Sub 3 in Amsterdam is looking good now

    Yeah there was a breast cancer stand at the registration this morning. No doubt I'll wear the top at the club some night over the winter!

    I had a fantastic day at Tullamore half marathon today. Great organisation, and a great spread after it. Great team behind it all was very evident. I've run 10/11 half marathon this year and that course is definitely one for the calendar and to tell others about.. I had a PB of almost 2minutes. Lovely to finish in the stadium/track. And great credit due to the 'Timekeepers' for having results/Times up on the wall so fast

    Just 1 negative.... and that was actually finding the club, as there seemed to be little signage on approach roads to Tullamore. It was similar for others. I had arrived early to do a few mls before the race as preparation for upcoming marathon. While I was jogging 5/6 cars stopped, asking me for directions to HQ. Just a small detail :-)

    Can't say I'll be showing off the top at club nights but if it was for cancer awareness maybe I'll give a twirl. (Just Once)

    Yeah, it was very well organised as usual.Great atmosphere.
    I did the loop twice, and was very happy with a 1.52 for the second half.

    I was there Saturday, as a spectator unfortunatly. Thought it was really well run, the organisers clearly put thought and effort into getting it right and made use of their facilities. Numbers definitely up on last year, I reckon it's a fixture that is here to stay and will only get more popular.

    Hi

    Most definately the most enjoyable half marathon i have done, i thought it was organised brilliantly. the course was fine, i did find some bits hard, but nothing too bad, a lot of pull, mostly flat and towards the end the downhill was brilliant. To finish on a track made it extra special, to se my 3 kids and wife cheering me on towards the end was memorable, i went over and clapped their hands which possible cost me my pb, but who cares..

    the feast after was t he best i have seen.

    The only complaint i have and its only a small one, their was no one at the baggage section in the hall, and my car keys were their for anyone to take..if they have a baggage area, they need to have someone their at all time..

    other than that
    well done Tullamore Harriers, i will be back next year..

    Agree with all the good points made by the people above. Excellent half marathon, very fair course, great organisation.
    Would love to know how many volunteers they had for this run. They seemed to be everywhere. Great spread of food afterwards. Results being posted up on the wall as people finished.
    One gripe - as somebody mentioned above. Very poor signage around Tullamore giving directions to the stadium. It took me 25 minutes from the time i arrived in the town to where i found the stadium. Luckily got good directions from a truck driver in the town. Otherwise, i'd have missed the start.
    3 minute PB for me (1.34.56), so all in all a good day.
