    A friend left his sister in his house while he went away to work for amonth but the his sisters husband then took her away for 2 weeks for a holiday so she brought a 2kw heater into his bungalow and turned it in at max settings and left it on for the whole 2 weeks.

    Imo, it was a silly thing to do because could have started a fire, the friend went crazy when he returned and wasnt happy about her using this. She agreed that it was a silly thing to do and offered to pay the running costs for the heater. They have came to an agreement that she will pay just for 1 week but doesnt know how much to pay.

    They know that theres a thermostat and it knocks off and wouldnt be running the full 24/7 but she agreed just to pay for it as if it was on constantly.

    Ive told them they need to find out how much they pay for tge eletric and multiply it by 2kw. So was wondering is there anyone here who could give a rough answer to how much she would owe for a weeks running costs for 2kw.

    1kwh = 1 "unit"
    1 "unit" = ~16c (it's somewhere near that anyway).

    A 2kw heater if on full blast for two weeks is

    2*16c per hour
    *24 hours per day
    *14 days in two weeks.

    That may be a bit much to pay esp if the heater wasn't on constantly. Is the history of electric use in the house available, usually online? If so then see what the increase was on the difference between the 2 bills of around the same time last year vs this year. may/may not be fairer.

    But it was done with the best of intentions and I presume the sister was minding the house for free! so your friend should just suck it up and get over it imo.
