The GFS ensembles dont really support much in the way of snow it has to be said. Maybe above 500 metres or so.

They mean tonight and tomorrow, but tbh I don't think it will happen, the charts don't look cold enough for snow, but it does say heavy snow for tonight and tomorrow.

If we do get any snow it will be short lived, as the tempertures rise on tuesday or so by the looks of things.

    Tonight

More persistent rain will spread across Munster and Leinster tonight, possibly turning to sleet or snow for a time on the mountains.

It sure is. For those really anxious for snow, ideally for snow to fall, you need your dew point around 0c (this is not a rule), but if you have a higher dew point then the less likely there will be sonw. That's why people watch the dew points as much as the temperature.

Looks like the cold spell will be short lived so if you see any snow flakes take a few photographs in case its a long time before they fall again :P

On a more serious note, Tuesday looks like it might be another windy and very wet day for the West, not good news for those dealing with flooding.

Ah snow time again. Its all about belief!! BELIEVE!!

How are the dew points going?? Pretty cold out is has to be said. +3 here now and getting colder.

DP 3.1 in Bray & dropping - long long way to go though .....................

Dew point 2.6°C and falling, air temp is falling pretty fast but I suspect in showers the temp would rise. Snow very unlikely unless temp continues to fall significantly.

Just hit 2.1c here. Less than a degree colder and we are in snow territory.

I can see on the radar that the front is over Munster. The problem is that the temp will probably rise as it clouds over here....

Hard to know, maybe a line between Limerick and Dublin??

I'd guess that any sleet/snow would be on leading edge of the front. Too far north and you could be dry, too far south and probably just rain.

Looking at the radar now, its reached south Tipp, s.Kilkenny and s.wexford.

Looking shockingly poor for any decent precip for sunday night/monday.

Very isolated showers im afraid seems to be the order.

The east coast hills and north seeing any real chance of wintry weather.

I say patience for a more promising period in the not too distant future.
