I hate now its going to go on for months. TV3 have listen The Chase tonight as 'new' on EPG and rte guide. Is this an episode from UTV Ireland that is new to TV3 or is it a mistake? Also in the RTE Guide Dance Dance Dance was scheduled to be on TV3 tonight but it was not on, why is this?

EPG for UTV Ireland on Saorview lists the normal programmes for tonight. At 12.50 am it lists "be3 launching 9th January". No other info.

Thank God I have Sky, so I can continue to enjoy, GMB(Piers Morgan!) Bit tongue in cheek that, but I'm sure a few others feel the same!

ITV is still one of the better British channels and what do all cable, saorview viewers have now? A mish mash of TV3(3) e3, b3 . No clear identity of what each channel specialises in. It looks to me like ITV(without the really good bits) spread over 3 separate channels with Ireland Am thrown in.

If they really thought out their schedule they could probably do a whole lot better.

Can't see my watching a whole pile on it tbh.

Ah well I'm only one viewer!

This is so ridiculous that probably 95% of the target audience are oblivious to whats going on and the rest are trying to figure it out for themselves, these are tv channels with presenters and such, they're incapable of producing a 10 minute Youtube video or broadcast an infomercial to let people know? I follow this kind of thing and Im not fully sure whats going on. Just a general cant be arsed as long as we get paid attitude from everyone involved in Irish tv. Thanks God for the internet.

You won't be alone as I can't see myself watching much on the channels either. I am sure that TV3 are banking on Virgin Media viewers not having ITV providing a boost to their viewing numbers.

Well Virgin were quick. 00:51 and UTV Ireland on 110
disappears. 3e HD launches and be3 HD placeholder.

Good to see HD for 3e.

Hopefully they get 3e in HD on Sky too. And we can dream about Saorview....

Great news indeed about 3e HD - completely unexpected.

Well, TV3 now have a new DOG, as does 3e, but Be3 is currently DOG-less and the wrong programme is on, according to the EPG on Saorview.

Would also have been nice if the '3' logo was in the same place on each channel with the 'e' or 'be' moving to either side of it. Also would have been nice if they were fully 16:9 safe.

3Kids normally finishes up around 9:40 on 3e, and they have Uploaded Bitesize to fill the gap between then and 10. Unsure why they did this, as some of those kids programmes last 10/12 minutes and can easily be used.

Virgin Media have moved TV3+1 up to UTV Ireland's old position of 110.

Ident for 3e looked great at 7am. Such a change to what we had for over 8 years.
Ident for be3 at 7am had a mum making cakes with her daughter in a kitchen. They're really going for the female, housewife angle.

Be3's DOG has appeared... and it has a HD tag on Saorview.... oops.

There's also a warning of call and text lines being closed, but it is almost completely obscured by the Xposé DOG.

Sky have UTV Ireland still listed on 116 with "be3 launching 9th January" on the EPG and a blank/blue screen.

Sky don't do EPG updates until later in the morning, so that should update soon.

    Is Xposé always such rubbish?

They just said "If you don't want to know who have been picked, look away now!" then play a clip where the result is not only shown but loudly spoken out. So, why tell viewers to look away if you were gonna play the audio spoiling it anyway?

Looks like no HD version on Sky. Be3 on channel 116 is in standard definition. The DOG says HD though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,878 ✭✭✭JDxtra

This is what I would expect - I imagine they want the HD versions on Virgin where possible. Plus, we would have seen HD placeholders appear on satellite in previous days and there was nothing reported.

Similar events happen on BBC News before MOTD, they clearly play the main goals of a match after telling them to look away seconds earlier.

Thats disappointing,so Sky viewers lose a HD channel!

Is the old UTV Ireland SD epg still there on 267?

But surely it would/will take over from UTV Ireland so so no new testing would need to be done and the existing sd and hd feeds would be used. Is there anythjngnon the EPG where the old UTVI sd Channel was in the upper 200's?

It depends what package you have - remember HD is extra for all channels except RTE on Sky.

For me (no HD add-on) 116 is UTV Ireland SD and blank
267 shows as UTV Ireland HD and also blank

Nope. Remember, UTV Ireland was broadcast from Belfast using capacity and up-links owned by what is now part of ITV. TV3 group broadcast Be3 from Dublin, and will have to use their own up-links.

I'd forgotten that fact. Well it looks like Sky viewers have lost a HD channel never mind getting 3e in HD. Very disappointing but to be honest not that surprising from the TV3 group.

There is uproar on the TV3 facebook page about the loss of GMB and Lorraine!

They'll expect it after the reaction UTVi got. However, looking at the comments, it's only about 20 people giving out multiple times under different posts from TV3.

Sure there is one giving out that there is no Judge Judy at 11am. Another asking where is This Morning. Can't please everyone

On saorview it shows the HD dog too, it is SD though isnt't it?

Surely that is illegal to mislead in that way?

Certainly unprofessional. They probably don't have the equipment/capacity to provide two feeds (HD and SD) to the providers.

be3 HD on 116 (Sky) is indeed very low quality looking, what you would expect from TV3 with a pixilated logo and blurry image. Amateurs.

I don't see any HD indicator on Saorview.
