Fox snagged not one but two high-profile actresses to join its Broadchurch remake.
Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) and Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) will star in the newly dubbed Gracepoint, the network’s remake of the popular British TV drama. Gunn will play Det. Ellie Miller while Weaver will take over the role of Susan Wright.
As previously announced, Broadchurch’s David Tennant will reprise his role in the drama about a murder in a small coastal town. This time, however, his character is named Det. Emmett Carver.
Dan Futterman (Capote, In Treatment) and Anya Epstein (In Treatment, Homicide) will serve as the showrunners and executive producers. The original series creator, Chris Chibnall, will also EP.
Filming will begin in January for broadcast during the 2014-2015 season. Chibnall will write the premiere episode.

Jesus it looks very faithful to broad church, a lot of it is shot for shot the same and a lot of the same dialog. Not sure if I will bother with this, as much as I like Anna Gunn, Olivia Coleman is just irreplaceable.

This version is two episodes longer, so it's going be somewhat different. I loved the original, this may tide me over until series two.

I assume there's going to be a difference in story line because

Nige and Joe have completely different haircuts in the trailer so they can't run with the whole "the witness identified Nige. Oh wait, no. It was Joe" thing.

I really liked Broadchurch but I can't see myself watching this because it's just too samey.

Not a bad start but after watching Broadchurch and knowing the ending to that I'm not sure I will stick with it.

I do hope they give a different ending.

Oh and David Tennant's accent is so hard on the ear.

9 episodes in, now. One to go.

I watched the first one but didn't continue. Is it worth going back to? Is it much different to Broadchurch?

Yeah, was gonna give it a watch over Christmas to see how it fared against the excellent Broadchurch (which is, by the way, back for a second series next month on ITV).

Ratings for Gracepoint seem to be pretty dismal.. so wonder how it'll pan out. Another series seems unlikely!

This thread reminded me of it earlier today - watched the first episode just now. Visual style of the show doesn't hold up well against Broadchurch at all, where the lighting and filming style matched the mood and atmosphere of the show very well. And what's with that accent...?

Haven't watched Broadchurch but Gracepoint is pretty decent once you get into it. Not sure how an American audience would take to it though.

It's a near shot for shot remake I have watched up to episode 6 before getting bored of it.

If I hear the changed the ending from the UK one i may go back and watch the rest of them.

David Tennant's American accent was wrecking my head while watching it.
