Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Probably true, do you have a better link for the same range of coal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

Too early in the year for this type of talk, sure the heat doesn't go on until Halloween

Petshop stores in Ballina, Castlebar & Sligo that I know of. They sell all grades of Polish coal fro €12.50 to €17.50. Its Polish lads that are running those outlets and you can haggle with them for a package price.

Not really around the corner for me. I got 5 bags at 20€ each of environmentally friendly coal and 1 bag of logs delivered to my house and stacked in my shed: brobably not the best bargain in town but not too shabby either

€3.59 is cheap unless they're last season's stock. Be interesting to know if they have green or orange bands around the bale.

Nothing wrong with last years stock , if they had been stored indoors .

3.59 is close to cost price ex factory nowadays with 2 lots of carbon tax ,

Ah ok so the orange ones are not is that what you are saying?

Ah thats good to know. I have seen them priced close to €5 for one bale around here.

Yeah, sorry I didn't mean there was anything wrong with old stock, just pointing out the price difference.

Both are BnM briquettes. They launced the orange bands a few years ago when selling to suppliers in the North, so it would be easier to detect VAT evasion if they were tried to be re-sold down here. It's why you should be wary if you see briquettes with orange bands for sale with a noticeable price saving. They had some big newspaper ads about it at the time but I can't find anything on the web about it.

I know old stock is ok to use if it has been stored dry which i assume that these ones have. I know a few people that buy by the pallet whereas I buy in loads of five or ten.

I was paying €4 all last winter for them (burned ten all winter). I was expecting to pay up to the above figure this winter until my uncle told me about the co-op mart.

At that price premium coal, anthracite, stove/open fire ovids are cheaper. BNM is going to be toast.
