I would like to go AMD for processor if possible. And I would like the option of HDMI output on the graphics card, but not a HD monitor.bably

I should also say I will probably upgrade in the future so a little futureproofing wouldn't go amiss.

1. What is your budget? €600+ Staying as close as possible to the €600.

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming, FPS shooters eg: black ops 2, Minecraft (FTB), And let's just throw in Skrim as a possibilty too. Also software design, games design.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Hard Drive.

5. Do you need a monitor? Yes, VGA connection is fine. Cheap and cheerful.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. 19"+. I plan to use the HDMI connection on the card to hook up to my HDTV as needed.

6. Do you need any peripherals?No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No.

8. How can you pay? Any method.

9. When are you purchasing? Next week or two.

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Don't need help with the build.

Big thanks in advance for any build suggestions, advice.

Pretty similar to my previous effort, the FX 6300 which would have been about €125 at the time of your last build has has dropped enough to make it a better option then the Phenom 965.

Just 4GB RAM for now and you'll need to add a CPU cooler for any serious overclocking, but this is a decent base to start from.

Not sure if you intend gaming mainly on the monitor or a HDTV(1080p?) If its mostly the monitor, and or the TV happens to be 720p you could cut down on the graphics card spend a bit.

Since the monitor is only 1440 X 900 you could probably cut back to to a HD 7790 and maybe get a CPU cooler or a second 4GB stick of RAM.

You could even probably afford to drop down another notch to a HD7770, still get pretty decent gaming performance and get both of the above.

A 2gb card would be a waste at that res for sure.

I'd go with a 7790 but the Asus one which costs a little more but is higher clocked and comes with a far better cooler.

Right so, what if we say my budget can stretch to a higher res monitor and another 4gig ram.

Or is the performance upgrade not worth the price of taking the 7850 over a 7790 or 7770?

If you're going 1080p I wouldn't get anything less than this monitor. The Ips panels give a far better picture quality.

Placed an order for the above build Marco_polo suggested with the monitor BloodBath suggested and an extra 4gig of Ram.

Order came to a total of €680.48, €5 off discount for searching for a voucher code online.
