Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Battery change for '07 Ford Focus key fob

    Hi,
I have a 2007 Ford Focus with the key fob for the keyless ignition (if that makes sense!).
The car is telling me that I need to change the battery on the key fob but I honestly cannot see how the fob can be opened to get the battery out. The top of the fob slides open easily to let the bonnet key out but after that it seems like one solid unit.
Does anyone else have one of these and managed to get it open?
    Thanks,
    NOWE.

Do you have a pic of the fob?
If you google Ford Focus Key Fob and choose images there are some to choose from.

Open the blade, get a small flat headed screwdriver and slide it into the hole that you will see where the blade sits when it's closed. It's just about level with the top of the unlocked padlock image but on the side, obviously. Lever the screwdriver towards the blade part of the key and the two pieces of the key should seperate.

The battery will be in the lower half of the two pieces you then have and when you've changed it the key just clicks back together. :)

Edit: Just realised if you don't have the blade/silver stud, there should be an indentation somewhere on the side to do the same kind of thing, around where the tope of unlocked padlock is, on the side... Either that or it's brute for time and just pull the two pieces apart.

That's even easier than the older style key, I'm slightly jealous now...

Yeah it does look easy enough...I have a funny feeling though that mine will not come apart that easily!

Hi guys, sorry to be brining back an old thread but I have the same key as the Op. I've changed the battery, but now I can't get the car to re programme to the remote. I've taken out the spare key that's part of the key and have used this to turn on and off the ignition 4 times, but I don't receive a beep the manual says I should hear to reprogram the remote. Any help greatly appreciated!

This old thread is about the battery change in the fob.
You are asking about reprogram car.

They are related subjects but not the same.
