Products and companies that dont test on animals

    Hello all,

    I would like to only buy products from companies that dont test on animals. I looked on the peta website and they gave a list of companies that do and dont test. But they are mostly American companies and definitely dont include companies that are in lidl or aldi.
    Just as a starter does anyone know if any of the W5 or Cien companies test on animals?

    P.S. wasnt sure to post this in fashion or vegetarian so went with animals.

    Are you including medicines? If so... every single medicine currently available on the market is likely to have been tested on animals at some point.

    As for cosmetics, Lidl/Aldi probably don't make the products themselves. They probably get a specialised manufacturer to make it for them. More likely than not, the chemicals used will have been tested on animals at some point in time.

    Below is a link to the website uncaged.co.uk, tells you the main high st shops you can shop at for cruelty free, surprisingly, Aldi are cruelty free, Lidl are not. There you go!

    But be careful...almost all sites have some sort of agenda and it's difficult to get the correct information from them, and there's often clever wording.

    As an example, The Body Shop famously don't test on animals but they're owned by L'Oreal, who do. The Body Shop is listed on the site above, by the way. So there's an example of an aforementioned agenda :(

    Also many companies don't test the finished product on animals but will test the ingredients themselves. Or they might not carry out any testing themselves but will buy from companies that do. It's a bit of a minefield. Superdrug is one for a start that's very affordable though, and I like some Lush products.

    On the Uncaged website it explains about all that and it has the Body Shop on it's 'not cruelty free' list for that very reason, also Ecover products aren't classed by them as cruelty free for some other reason. It's interesting once you start digging what you find out, I mean the Body Shops ethos was always always 'we don't test on animals' they were one of the very first cosmetic companies to really draw attention to this, I still can't get over them selling out to L'Oreal (even though it was 6 years ago) and their products are so overpriced now.

    Eyes Lips Face (ELF) don't test on animals. I think Stila and Soap and Glory don't either.

    Urban Decay are cruelty free (and vegan). PETA and other organisations have awarded them for their efforts too
