In common with the majority of Meath races this year we are using the services of Precision Timing to chip-time this race.

Was just about to ask. Good stuff. Hoping to do this. It will be my first time over 5k on the roads so looking forward to giving it a lash.

No, I've a good bit on that weekend with a few scoops planned for the Saturday night so a race on Paddy's day is just what the doctor ordered. This is a great race, you should consider it.;) You could do it twice:D

Gradually shaking off injury and this looks ideal for a return to competition. I expect to be up the road in Mullingar for the weekend. I will be aiming for a nice controlled tempo session on the day - rather than flat out - and I have a guaranteed PB, since I have never run the distance before.

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the start time for our race.

Start time is at 2pm in Kildalkey, Co. Meath on Saturday 17th March 2012

    Details here:

    http://precisiontiming.primo-solutions.co.uk/ps/event/FrMurphy5mileRoadRaceFunRun

    Thanks,

Just registered for this one. Looking forward to it. I presume it's the same route as last year?

    Yes, same as last year.

Anyone have a Garmin connect link? Is it a fast'ish course?

*Edit*: Checked out last year's thread, and the feedback seems to be a resounding 'yes, it's flat':
Ok. Its absolutely, categorically and indubitably your last chance to enter online for this fabulous, totally under-rated pancake-flat, charming, sociable, friendly race. Did I mention flat?

Its also fast. You had to be under 26 minutes for top ten male last year.

Why not come along and see if I'm as good looking as my twin in Ardee!!

Sounds good. How do we get there from Dublin without getting stuck in any Patrick's Day parades?!

    Take Trim/Ratoath exit off M3

Head towards Trim, the parade there isn't till 3pm. At second roundabout in Trim go right. Straight through lights. Take left just before Lidl. Follow sign for Kildalkey. In Kildalkey take right for Athboy. Community Centre on left.

You'll know me when you see me. I look just like that chap in Ardee.:p

This is a great race, ran it last year, very flat course, well worth the trip. Would love to run it again but I sprained my ankle, so won't be able to make it this year.

Didn't know there was a big parade in Shankill:).
Pronator and me are heading together

Even though the weather tried it's best to put me off, I really enjoyed the race today. I wasn't even going to put my gear on when I saw the torrents of rain, but it was mostly stopped by the start time, so I didn't have enough of an excuse to not run ;)

Interesting course - almost cross country in places with puddles as deep as me knee (but that might be a slight exaggeration :p) but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and got a new (soft) PB to boot. Happy days! :D

Some lovely tea and sandwiches served afterwards too.
Thanks to the all the organisers.

+1. Super race, really well organized. I can see why you get such a top quality field travelling for this race. Weather was a little unkind beforehand, but softened nicely for the race. Great spread afterwards too. Overall super value for money and definitely a race I'll come back to. Fab running by Pronator (3rd) and Abhainn and a solid return to form by Mithril... and of course the best performance of all, by Emer911 (if I don't say that, I'll be sent back out in the rain).

My watch was out by .07 of a mile, but analyzing the route I took against the satellite maps, I can see where the watch cut quite a large number of corners short, which is likely down to the weather conditions. Just goes to show, you can only rely on a watch to be 95% accurate.

Thanks MeathCountySec, delighted I made the trip!

Very well organised, good spread afterwards and the water jumps were an added bonus. Second year I have done this and will hopefully be back next year;)

Great race, even though it's a flat course it was still a tough challenge. Really enjoyed it. Came up a bit short on my garmin, but if the garmin guru's happy that's good enough for me. Hope to be back next year. Well done meathcountysec.

Great race this. Flat as you can wish though there were loads of muddie puddles (Peppie Pig:D). today
26:35 for me and a huge PB. Well done all down in Meath.
