Considering they still advertise auditions for the 'All Ireland Talent show' in Aug/Sept 2009 and often get their programme listings wrong, is it that big of a loss?:p

What are you seeing when you load aertel? Its a central feed from the headend in donnybrook so everyone gets the exact same thing.

Then what am I looking at? I'm watching RTE on DTT.

Channels are working fine, no change there. Call up aertel though and you should get a message similar to that posted above.

Roughly looks like this. It's a screenshot from January. Layout has changed a bit since however. Depending on what type of telly you have, you can switch between both versions. My LG tv can do this. It's not available at the moment, just the message.

Righty-ho. Something to look forward to I guess. :p

Well that clears that up! Are you using a Samsung TV by any chance mike? They seem to prioritise analogue teletext over MHEG so on RTÉ One and RTÉ TWO where you get the old teletext version, alongside the MHEG version, pressing text on your remote launches the teletext version, not MHEG.

Samsung it is yep. I just had a look at the user manual. It gives no clue as to accessing this DTT text service.

Same on my Phillips. I am just getting analogue.

probably need to set TV to UK instead of Ireland to access mheg5 base text as it is the same as Freeview uses. This won't affect TV's ability to decode MPEG4 for normal TV viewing.

You mean you don't receive Digital Channels at all?
Do you receive sound with no picture? or nothing?

If you have sound with no picture then your TV is not MPEG4 capable.
If you are receiving no digital signal then maybe you are not in an area with digital coverage or at least your aerial is not aligned to a transmitter with digital signal.

What part of the country are you in and do you know what transmitter you are receiving analouge from?

The other posters in this thread are receiving Digital Picture fine just not Digital Text Service (Aertel).

Not receiving digital at all. I'm in west cork so i think i'm getting analogue from Mullaghanish. I have sky working fine so i have the channels i was just curious about what is available through DDT and see what it is like. I guess i'll have to wait a few months. :(

    it's back up again.
When it loads, just ignore the black and white message, and type in 101

Just switched my country to UK and so had to do a tedious rescan, its loading....for the last 3 minutes!

Working now, clearly a long way from the finished article.

that may be true , but there is a diffrent Aertel provided with the Analouge Service than the Digital Service.

And since all radio waves are Analouge in nature there is no Digital signals being received by any of our aerials.

Pressing blue gives a help page:

    Green gives an index page:

Content available too in these menus. Haven't looked at them all.
