    Hi All,

In recent years I’ve noticed a number of major international films/tv series in which, by chance, two or more Irish actors/actresses find themselves cast in the same non-Irish production playing non-Irish roles. I believe this occurrence can act as an indicator that, in recent years, there has been major growth in Irish acting talent on the international scene. So far, I’ve pieced together the below occurrences. If anyone happens to know any others, please feel free to share.

Thanks in Advance for all Responses.

Seraphim Falls (2007): Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan (also Irish Linked Angelica Huston).

Batman Begins (2005): Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy.

Miami Vice (2006): Colin Farrell and Ciaran Hinds.

Cold Mountain (2003): Brendan Gleeson and Cillian Murphy (small role).

Stardust (2007): Peter O’Toole and David Kelly.

Rome (TV series) (2005/06): Ciaran Hinds, Kerry Condon and Lorcan Cranitch.

The Mission (1986): Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn and Ray McAnally.

Another consideration is the potential meeting of Richard Harris and Brendan Gleeson in the Harry Potter films had Richard Harris lived.

(P.S. Irish actors cast to sound like Colin Farrell in “Alexander” does not count)

Does Boston Irish count as Irish? If not, there's Snitch, which has Jason Barry, Colm Meaney (both Dubliners), as well as a "Plastic Paddy" in the shape of Denis Leary.

I thought I would find a few Colm Meaney connections, since he's been everywhere, including Die Hard 2 (the doomed English pilot), Con Air (the DEA Agent with the nice car), and two different Star Trek series (as, well, the irish bloke in charge of the Transporters).

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

2 big ones that would fit your criteria of big non-irish international productions and non-irish roles are:

    Troy (Brendan Gleeson, Peter O'Toole)
Kingdom of Heaven (Brendan Gleeson, Liam Neeson)

Would In Bruges be considered in this category? When you look at the cast its not full of Irish people and is not set in Ireland.

    Colin Farrell as Ray,
    Brendan Gleeson as Ken,
    Ralph Fiennes as Harry Waters,
    Clémence Poésy as Chloë,
    Jordan Prentice as Jimmy,
    Thekla Reuten as Marie,
    Jérémie Renier as Eirik,
    Anna Madeley as Denise
    Elizabeth Berrington as Natalie
Željko Ivanek as The Canadian Tourist
Ciarán Hinds (uncredited) as the priest

In Bruges wouldn't count. The 2 of them are playing irish characters.

    Here is the IMDb link

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780536/

I found it quite a good film and I know a few others who thought the same. However, I also know some people who detested it and did not find it funny.

I find your lack of SW knowledge disturbing.

Luna Lovegood is played by Irish actress Evanna Lynch and there's that Dublin kid Devon Murray (Seamus Finnegan) too.

His co-pilot in that is also apparently an Irish actor, James Lancaster.
