Back in 1991 Ireland fielded a backline who were all foreign born. They were

    15 Jim Staples - England

    14 Simon Geoghegan - England

    13 Brendan Mullin - Israel/Jordan

    12 Dave Curtiss - Rhodesia

    11 Jack Clarke - Kenya

    10 Brian Smith - Australia

    9 Rob Saunders - Scotland

Staples and Geoghegan were both bona fide "granny rulers" born and raised in England with Irish ancestry.

Mullin was born in Jerusalem in 1963 so depending on which side of the divide his hospital was in it could have been Jordan. Israel didn't capture all of Jerusalem until 1967.

Curtiss was born and raised in Zimbabwe but his dad had played rugby for Ireland on I know not what grounds so he probably had some bona fide qualifications as well.

Clarke played for a Cork club so I can only assume he returned to Ireland with his parents at a young age and was raised here.

Saunders had no Irish ancestry but moved to Belfast with his Scottish parents as an infant and grew up with an impeccable Norn Iron accent.

Brian Smith was a complete and utter imposter. An Ozzie who played against us in the 87 world cup, got recruited at a time when checks were lax, played a couple of seasons and then buggered off to rugby league.

A good passing out half but couldn't place kick for toffee. England won the grand slam that year scoring five tries. We finished bottom without a win having scored ten tries. No kicker to convert them.

Sorry, no question. Just know it all waffle.
