Would anyone have info. on money lending sources that would be an alternative to the banks or mortgage companies (e.g. for a short-term house renovation project).

Local credit union? Outside of banks, mortgage companies and the CU - you are looking at 'money lenders' who prey on the vunerable........

Unless of course you have a wealthy family member who is willing to lend a hand?

If you click on the regulated firms tab you can get a list of all the regulated lenders by county. Just be careful with moneylenders. You might be better off going to the credit union if its a small loan that you are looking for.
