Just registered and this is my first post! I have been reading sum of the posts 4 awhile now and finally decided 2 join up.

Just wondering what people feel they r better at are u:

    (a) Better at Tournaments than Cash

    or

    (b) Better at Cash Game's than Tournament

As 4 myself i dont have the biggest bankroll so cant really be playing in sum of the heavy duty cash games that i c but i do play if i have a few spare euro and sum time 2 kill, so in that respect i do prefer 2 play tournaments.

Just interested to c what people have 2 say on this!

    Tyler
The first rule of boards is - you do not talk text talk.
The second rule of boards is - you DO NOT talk text talk.
    Third rule of boards!...

Ive always played tournaments stt's&mtt's up until recently so its too early to say i guess but probably better at tournaments.

welcome to boards tyler. ill reiterate what rounders said but youll get used to that after a while.
i consider myself a better tournament player as that was how i learned the game and have many more hours experience playign like that, i like to give the cash games a go but i am not as yet committed enought at it to give it a proper go. im a dabbler....

havnt got a deep enough bankroll to play 1/2 yet, but so far ive built up my bankroll in online cash games.

i enjoy tournaments more than cash games but make my money in cash games.

    so id suppose its 50-50

i said "cash games" 3 times in the above post. so subconsciously i will say....

Welcome to boards Tyler, check out the Newbies/FAQ forum.

I'm only a low/micro limit player working up a small BR, play the odd tourny and have had some good results but up until recently I was mainly playing cash games. Started playing STTs again and am seeing good results but overall my cash game is a lot stronger I think. Have to get back into playing tournys though.

That is nearly the same from me that is where most of my playing is from, the first time i played a live cash game i was lost didnt have a clue what was going on there i started to realise it was a totally different way of playing compared to tournament play.

The deeper the stacks the happier I am. Hence I prefer cash games as opposed to the usual Crapshoot tournament.

    X 2 :o

I was an ok tourney player (my opinion) until I learned how to play...badly!
I don't play cash games except for a dismal weekend on PokerStars when I reloaded €100 four times. What was even more worrying is I was up €300 at one stage.
Too much book learning is bad for your game.

The good part is I still turn up to play. :)

Cash game player, only playing around 9 months but doing really well, at the moment i am in Belgium, no scene at all here, last week at Holland casino a big tournie was on(which i didn't play) and the lowest cash game was 5/10 - highest i ever played, my game was as tight as an anorexic prostitute, got lucky in a few hands and cutting a long story short i made about 900(expenses paid - a lot), was there for 6 days, so was really happy, i have taken hits but i have the patience to dig my heels in and wait when playing live(most definitely not online though). I go away most weekends because where i am, has no casinos, tomorrow i head to Brussels for the evening/night, theres bugger all casinos where i am living. So its PPP for me tonight

    rant over

I used to be a purely tournament player, now I'm a pure cash player.

I prefer tournaments (live) by far but my nerdy spreadsheet thingy shows that I am up the amazing sum of E170 for the year in tournies after a craptastic sequence in Oct

Cash is nowhere near as much of a buzz but I do make de money there

    here's another money song:

    Money, get away
Get a good job with more pay and your O.K.
    Money it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team
    Money get back
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off my stack.
    Money it's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullsh*t
I'm in the hi-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
    Money it's a crime
Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie
    Money so they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a rise it's no surprise that they're
    giving none away

edit to LOL that I included Phantom Lord's blog post title in those lyrics!!

I much prefer tournies live, but only when there is a bit of play. Rebuys can be terrible but if there ar enough rebuys it turns into a decent game after the break. Online I don't play that much but when I do it is Omaha cash 95% of the time. Live cash is Omaha 99% of the time. I don't like Hold'Em cash games too much for some reason.

I heard a great line from one of the Full Tilt guys tonight in the SE. It went something like this.....

"Wow, a 10 way limped cash hand, you don't see that often". I told him that I assumed he had never played 1/2PL cash games here before.......

LOL, class, I wonder should we be proud or embarassed...

That still wasn't the best line I heard all day though. This one was just class for different reasons. Erik Seidel and Alan Smufit were having a conversation and at one point Erik asked him 'Do you still have a place over here?', to which Alan replied (pointing to the crest on his tshirt) 'Yes, the K-Club'.

I though it was class, and the way he said it wasn't in a kind of 'I'm rich' way, just in a very matter-of-fact way. I nearly LOLed.

Starting off mate id recomend you try and build a bank roll playing stts coupled with a few selected mtts. In my opion cash games require alot more disclipine and skill and more importantly bank roll managment( cause you will go broke if you dont manage ure bank roll in cash). In cash you have to play alot flops makes calls with medium hands cause alot of bluffing goes on especially on tribeca and try and have the nuts when ure playing for all your chips.
