Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is the clover a white tat or a branding?

I'm going in to Gav in Zulu tomorrow evening to start the work on my sleeve :D

Here are my two although they've both been up here before.

That is an impressive tattoo. I didn't see any blots in the ink and the shading is immaculate. The artist did great work.

My clover and the angel's rays and halo are white ink. My artist has a tendency to have a heavier hand with the white, so I'm sure branding would be less painful. There is a place close by that does branding, but its expensive with less than accurate results.

That one was done by Debbie in Snakebite, here in Dublin. She does good work but normally does some funky biomech and goth stuff, lots of Giger too. I'm going to Gavin in Zulu to get a sleeve done despite her stuff being good as he has a lot more Celtic experience which I'll need for the design of the 3/4 arm.

Is there any way that you could take a close up of the clover as it is hard to see in white and looks like a large keloid?

Got this done in Sydney last year.

Since the clover was inked only four days ago, the scab is still dark. I have a close up picture but its not that great. It is sort of a keloid/tattoo hybrid. Amanda (tattoo artist at Smiling Buddha, Savannah, GA) drug the needle to give it a more punctuated effect.

    Was yours free-handed?

I have thought about a back piece. They look tough as hell! But I'm selfish and want to see my tattoo every day. I have a small one on my back that I constantly forget is there.

Do you have a close up? I'd like to see the detail. How long was it tender in that spot? Are you going to add to it?

This is the best i can do at the moment. I not going to add to it. It is my first and only tattoo.

Famous last words. I remember saying the exact same thing after my first one. Now six tattoos later, I'm planning to steal some time to get one more.

You picked a great design and great size. For a first piece, that is the biggest one I've seen. Does it have special meaning?

Ah ok the freshness explains it alright.

Na mine was actually taken from a book of "Book of Kells" illustrations.
I didn't change it as I dont believe in changing that artwork.

bitten by the bug, you might say (I'm still only 20). the rose and the unbroken aren't as blurry as they look, it's my camera's fault :)

I got this one in 1995

People asked and still ask : " why do you have the sign for WMD tattoed?"

I just can tell these ignorants: " Sorry mate, this is an ancient japanese sign, 5000 years old btw." ;)

    Hey everybody.
Just thought I'd add my contribution.
I got this one the same day MizzKattt got her clover. The idea was to get a somewhat matching design (as we're best friends and all).

Note: It's still a bit scabby.
    ;)

I Have one done by debbie too, its a paul booth design and to be honest its even better than the original booth piece.

Apprently she is no longer with Snakebite but is still knocking about somewhere.
Dim is the main man there now.

Ok here's the first session of the new sleeve, was only two hours, is costing me a fortune so I have to spread it out a lot.
Next session is on Friday again for two hours when this piece should be finished.

P.S. For anyone who is interested, I have seen that Debbie is now working in the new celestial ring on Abbey street, the one that used to be Skin Grafix.

It'll be of a cat probably as most of the Celtic designs are of cats even though they could be dogs, there appear to be no dogs in the book of Kells, according to a book I had.
I have left the choice of design more or less to the artist (Gav in Zulu) as I am into the visual skin art aspect and the celtic cultural aspect as opposed to some heavier meaning.

That white ink looks very intresting around the angels top
I don't have any tatoo's but I may consider getting one done in that white ink
is it not as noticeable as the blank ink in a kinda dark place?

The white is hardly noticeable at all. In broad daylight or bright lighting, its easily seen but not from a distance. With my olive skin, just a hint of my natural pigmnet bled through the ink. If you have pale or fair skin, I wouldn't suggest white ink.

Also, I have heard of but never seen glow-in-the-dark tattoo ink.

    New to boards.ie

Have a tribal piece between my shoulders. I'll see if I can contort myself into taking a pic or two tonight and throw them up tomorrow.

Only piece I have at the moment but definitely planning on getting more....just have to begin the arduous task of deciding what I want

Thats an odd one that I seem to like
was it expensife to get it going from your neck to the hip,, you get it all done at once
and does it go to your right hip?
go over your breats or inbetween them?

Well it would have been expensive because it took over 8 hours, but my tattooist was like, look I really like this piece just pay me what you can. I got it done in two four hour sessions, tbh I'm not sure I could have taken it all at once. It goes down between my breasts and around the bottom of the right one, down my side and ends on the right side of my lower back. I'm totally in love with them! :)
