Scanner Software

Hey, just wondering if anyone knew of any good software for scanning documents? I have this plug and play scanner (Samsung) which works fine and have two different software, however one of them (HP s/w) insists on storing it in a TIFF file when scanning and is just impossible to manipulate while the other (Windows built-in) is taking like a picture of the document and leaving a lot of white space around it. I can't find any software specific for the machine itself. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

I have used one called Vuescan which is quite good and easy to use. Not free though.

Another vote for Vuescan from Hamrick Software. My recommendation is to pay for the professional edition (unlimited free upgrades for life for as many scanners as you like for $80), you'll never have to install any junk scanner software ever again.

Probably the best-value paid-for software I ever acquired (on Mac with film-scanners, old SCSI-based scanner brought back to life, all-in-one machines work with it, etc, etc.)

There are versions for Mac OS X, Windoze (various flavours) and Unixs
