Tax for first time rf100

Hi I bought a 00 Suzuki bandit that had never been taxed

I wrote to Shannon requesting the rf100 form

Got it back today part filled out in my name saying

"Overleaf please find part completed rf100 form which should be used without delay for the first licensing (taxing) of The vehicle at your local motor tax office"

Does this mean I can now tax it online or do I have to go into the office?

I guess the first time will be in the office, after that online.

It is letting me enter the reg and pin (last 6 chassis number ) online and it cones up so I'm good to go I think!

When I go to tax online it is in my name but there is 4 year arrears they are asking me to pay?

It has never been taxed before?

What do I do now? Do I go into the tax office?

I can't be liable for this am I?

Any help would be appreciated

I can't see how four years arrears can just appear if you just bought the bike?
Any tax owing should be cleared once ownership changes.
I would go in and try and sort it out in the office.

It says the bike was registered in 2010 but never taxed...

You're a bit ducked.
Normally back tax doesn't apply to the new owner but you've registered yourself as the first owner and with the change in tax system you can't sign off arrears anymore.

Ring the tax office and see what the story is but you shouldn't have filled the rf100 yourself is what I'm thinking

The chap who imported it paid vrt but never finished the process is what this looks like

Arrears are wiped with change of ownership, if the bike was sold to someone else and they taxed it then they would pay no arrears.
If you bought it off them taxed then there would be no issue.:)

No it was never taxed here, but says it was registered 6 dec 2010

I sent away for the rf100 form it came back in mine name part filled out!

Surely I can't be liable for tax arrears because the bike was never taxed and I'm the owner.
