Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Probably had the better of the 1st half. Passing it around well but no cutting edge. Varney missed a sitter but apart from that it sure ain't edge of the seat stuff.

...or back in January when it was kinda obvious that a change was needed.

Ah well, I guess if we keep looking to the past, we'll miss the future ;);)

Crap, Cardiff got promoted. I hate that lot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

    Who cares about Cardiff!

"we're Leeds United, we pass the Ball!" - chant of the season?

McDermott saying he wishes there were 6 games to go instead of 3. Very positive comments, which I'm sure transmits to the players. It would have been easy for him to say let's get this season over and rebuild etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Alright it has only been a couple of games but already a couple of things are coming out that makes things look very positive for next season. There was a telling comment from Varney after the game on Saturday - ""To see someone over in the dug-out telling us to pass the ball was great, it's obviously a different outcome and it really worked on Saturday." - just shows what life was like under Warnock! It's a shame we didn't get him in a couple of weeks earlier as the playoffs are out of reach now (unless a miracle happens!) but the poor run of 4 defeats in a row all happened when McDermott was available and even one win in those 4 would have left us with a shot at the playoffs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Goal and report from last night here - love the chant "We're Leeds United and we're passing the ball" :D

Article about Sam Byram on the BBC website here. Seems like a very level headed guy, hopefully we'll be able to hold on to him for at least another season or two rather than offloading him to the first team that comes in with an offer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭punk77

Good article about BMcD by Hay in today's YEP:

    http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/leeds-united-mcdermott-building-bridges-with-both-players-and-supporters-hay-1-5598225

Crucial that he will be buying a home in the area and not commuting a la Warnock. It's important that the manager involves himself totally in the club and involves himself at all levels, i.e Academy, U-18s, Development squad etc., and not just the first team squad.

    Today's team at Birmingham :

Kenny, Lees, Pearce, Byram, Green, Austin, Varney, Warnock (C), Tonge, Diouf, McCormack.

Subs : Ashdown, Drury, Peltier, White, Brown, Morison, Habibou.

Same team but subs look uninspiring. No Poleon, Hall or Dawson.

Ah well, another away defeat but at least it's 100% certain now that we won't be relegated.

Bad luck for Somma, under the knife again.

That's pretty rough on him. With his knee that fragile and his contract up in the summer he definitely won't be kept on, but he'll also struggle to find a new club as i can't see to many willing to gamble on him.

Can't see us spending money on an op either though if he wasn't in someone's plans. Maybe some kind of pay and play deal ??

I'm not convinced about the racing stripes either.......might grow on me...

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

That is fcuking woeful. It's one of the worst strips we've ever had. Since when are thick blue stripes part of the Leeds strip? And what's with the bloody huge Macron logos on both shoulders?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

    That stripe is awful.

I hate the new kit. no amount of "go-faster" stripes are going to make vareny any faster. fact.

Why cant they just have a White or Blue kit like the old days. That Thistle Hotels kit from the 90s was class. Strongbow Blue one was one of my favs.

The all-white Thistle strip, with the 1970s style LUFC on it? That was my absolute favourite of any strip since the original version of it. I also liked the navy and green Thistle away strip, it was something a bit different for us.

I ment the navy and green one. I thought it was cool. :)

+1 on the white thistle kit....asics did some good kits around that time even the one with the yellow and blue stripes across the middle..

Long time lurker, first time poster. Leeds fan since the late 80's, it's good to see I'm not suffering alone these days!! Delighted about McDermott getting the job, onwards & upwards from next season I hope. Though, having seen the pics, I won't be splashing out on the new home jersey, it's absolutely gank, reminds me of some of the kappa horror shows from a few years back... Anyway, just letting ye all know there's yet another fan around... Keep the faith!!!

Tbh, I wouldn't give a damn if our kit comprised of black bin liners once the team was capable of playing good football and winning matches.
Come to think of it, with some of the rubbish we played this season, maybe black bin liners would've been an appropriate kit.

No doubt partly funded by the 20 bucks you saved by NOT betting on us getting relegated ;)
