I thought I'd start this thread firstly so people could say something about albums released in 2007 that they are listening to, and because I want to know some info(release dates, anything really) on the next albums from the following artists:Edan, Dizzee Rascal, Joe Budden, Devin The Dude, Kano, Domingo, Mr Ti2bs, Example, the Wu-Tang Clan, Common and Blak Twang.

Right now I've heard a few new albums.Sean Price's release put me to sleep, the RZA's album was average but had about 5 nice cuts,Klashnekoff's is conistently above average and the only album I heard worth your cash.

okayplayer are saying Common-Finding forever will be out soon. El-p's new one is out in a few weeks, supposed to be class. Sage Francis has a new one out soon(kinda came out of nowhere). Snowgoons album is supposed to be good, has Wordsworth, O.C and others on it.

I seriuosly hope Common gets some beats from will.i.am and No ID for the next album,I love Kanye's stuff but Be was average to me.

Black Milk, J Dilla(reissue of the pretty good Ruff Draft), Domingo, Kano and the QN5 label are all supposed to be dropping albums in the coming months.About the only Hip-Hop albums that I have seen get continously good reviews for are this year are the EL-P,Brother Ali,Ta'raach and Amon Tobin albums.

Desire is never coming out and I for one am happy just because I know how much the wait tortures SC.:p

U can download Redman's new song over at okayplayer. "Gimme One" produced by Pete Rock.good track. still shows Redman is timeless, although on 1 listen i thought Malpractice sounded poor

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 81 ✭✭Beefeater

alright, i think these should be out this year:

Cormega - The Inevitable; could be good
Lupe Fiasco - The Cool; a little early after his first lp i think possibly
Canibus - Nothing To Prove & Rebirth Of Hip-Hop; NTP is a mixtape out very soon features Nas, DJ Premier, Wyclef Jean, Gza, Tha Dogg Pound, Tyrese, Domingo, Prince Paul, MF Doom, Butch Cassidy, Vinnie Paz of JMT, J. Wells, K-Solo, Doug E. Fresh, PlusScience, Mya. hopefully he releases something as good as Rip the JAcker.
Kool G. Rap - Half A Klip; never a big fan, good lyricist though
Ghostface & MF Doom - Swift & Changable; interesting
Rakim - The Seventh Seal; heard this was out 06 shopefully.
Cyne - Fallen Stars EP & Full Length LP; really like 1st album after 1 listen
EMC - The Show; should be great
Wu-Tang - 8 Diagrams; have my doubts it will come out in 07

    El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead.

Eh, wow. Better than Fan Dam. I need to listen to this some more to pass proper judgement but on first listen this is pretty damn good. Best I've heard this year anyway.

Now if only the rest of the Def Jux camp would follow suit they could go back to releasing albums of the quality of The Cold Vein and Labor Days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    Dalek album is good.

Devin the Dude is ok, nothing special. Evidence, well it sounds like the last two Dilated Peoples album so not very good and there's something about his attitude that annoys me anyway.

Best I've heard so far this year

    El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead (best by a long way)
    Busdriver - Roadkill Overcoat
    Dalek - Abandoned Language
    Snowgoons - German Lugers

Sean Price - Jesus Price Superstar is ok.

Have to listen to Linguistics' album still.

Prodigy album is only 39 minutes long including 3 interludes and an intro. So there's really 10 3 minute songs. Basically it's an EP at this length. Apparently though it's just a prelude to HNIC II. Sounds better than the last Mobb Deep album anyway.

    Haven't picked up anything yet.

I'm waiting on Wu's 8 Diagrams and Commons new album.

The Dalek album is ok I guess, his flow and the production can get a little dreary and repetitive though.

Apparently Redman and the Timbaland albums are out about, anyone?

Very slow start to the year,at least Common,Kanye,Lupe and Talib are on the way.(hopefully)

  • Registered Users Posts: 211 ✭✭Hagakure_irl

Didn't know about Redman, haven't listened to any of his stuff since Blackout with Meth.

Also going to pick up J-Dillas album

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Got the Redman album but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. There's a new Dogg Pound album coming out too for anyone interested.

El-P's album is by far and away the best this year so far though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Hell RAZAH's album is strong as well imo.Nicely produced and guestspots from Talib,DOOM, and Rass Kass.Best album I heard all year actually, although I always thought Hell RAZAH was underrated.

TBH I'm listening more to a lot of the stuff I missed last year.Raydar Ellis' Late Pass and Plastic Little' She's Mature are better then 95% of the albums I heard last year.

The first is the best debut I have heard since Cormega dropped The Realness(better then even Lupe), its dudes like Raydar,Black Milk,Lupe and Oh No that makes Hip-Hop still worth invented.Get his album, you'll be shocked how good it is.

Plastic Little's album is just offensive and ridiciously well produced.Very like Spank Rock's album and again Ghostface and DOOM guest.

So what did you think of it? I picked it up on Sunday along with the reissue of J Dilla's Ruff Draft.

IMO it's Red's most solid solo album since Muddy Waters (well not really that hard because Doc's Da Name 2000 & Malpractice were both poor). Some nice production from the likes of Rockwilder & Scott Storch too.

I'm looking forward to Muddy Waters 2 now ;)

Still haven't gotten around to listening to it.

The Ruff Draft re-issue has about three very good tracks(Nothing Like This is  )but is generally short, you'd think there would be some bonus beats tagged on.

My mate had the vinyl version of this and I really liked it. It is a tad short though and I was also surprised that there are no real extras considering that it is a two disc set. Overall I think that The Shining is better (E=MC2 with Common is class!).

Yeah The Shining was good.Guilty Simpson is going to drop a classic debut if he gets a chance and the proper support, the mid-west is on top creatively right now.

Apparently AZ has signed to Dipset, I'll reserve judgement until he drops some tracks.

Again a new album thats been getting strong reviews...

Guilty Simpson sounded very promising on Jungle Love from The Shining. Hopefully he'll get a chance to drop and album soon.

Any news on Verbal Threat's album? With production from the likes of DJ Premier, Da Beatminerz, Mathematics & 4th Disciple among others plus guest spots from Kool G Rap and Sadat X, it could be very interesting.

I second this. It is a simply brilliantly produced album, one of the few highlights of 2007 so far.

I'm actually going to check out El-Producto (with support from Messiah J & The Expert) in Crawdaddy on April 15th. Should be good.

    Some info on Common's latest...
Some track titles and features (list is incomplete; sequencing not yet set):
"The People" (featuring Dwele; prod. by Kanye West)
"Black Maybe" (featuring Bilal; prod. by Kanye West)
    "I Want You" (prod. will.i.am)
"Southside" (featuring and prod. by Kanye West)
"Misunderstood" (Nina Simone sample; prod. by Devo Springsteen)(who??)
"Drivin Me Wild" (featuring Lily Allen; prod. by Kanye West)
"So Far to Go" (featuring D'Angelo; prod by Jay Dilla)
"Break My Heart" (prod. by Kanye West)
"Start the Show" (prod. by Kanye West)

Common stated that on some tracks, West tried to chop beats in the same fashion as Dilla as a way of honoring him. He said that it had been difficult for him to come home to his apartment and not see Dilla on the couch watching "whatever show comes on in the morning." (It was determined said show was either "Maury Povich" or "Montel Williams.") But that he knew Dilla lived on in the music.

What do people think of Dizzee's 'Sirens'?Real nice, if not as strong as his earlier lead singles. Also working with Joss Stone and Lily Allen.
Maths & English was written entirely by Dizzee himself and sees him working with a number of collaborators like Arctic Monkeys on the song Temptation, rapper UGK on Where Da G's, plus Newham Generals on the track Lemon.

Although a full track listing has not been announced, Dizzee Rascal has revealed that other songs included on the LP are Pussy'ole, Industry, Flex and Bubbles.

Wouldn't be a bad thing, her new American accent makes me throw up a little.

Dizzee's one of the best things to happen to rap for years.Kano's also dropping an album soon, so be on the lookout for both.June the 4th for Maths 'n English I think.

Mr Hudson & The Library - A Tale Of Two Cities

Info on that Masta Ace group.Isn't Koolade Croation or something?
The Show is the upcoming debut album by Hip Hop supergroup eMC, which consists of rappers Masta Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth and Strick. While it was originally rumored that Ace had retired from music after the release of his acclaimed 2004 concept album A Long Hot Summer, the following year the veteran had formed the new collective with his protege, Milwaukee rapper Strick, and revered underground lyricists Punch & Words. The four had previously collaborated on numerous albums and tracks, and toured extensively as a collective.

Like Ace's previous albums, A Long Hot Summer and Disposable Arts, The Show will be a thematic concept album that tells a story. The album's story follows a day in the life of eMC doing a show on the road. In a January 2007 interview, Strick explained in detail: "It starts with Punch being late for his flight, which he always is. As we're doing this skit for the album, Punch is getting mad, saying 'Why you accusing me of always being late?' Then as we do the first eMC tour, he misses his flight to Berlin. So, the album starts with Punch being late, and follows us all the way to the show and the interviews after the show."

The first official eMC track, the Ayatollah-produced "Four Brothers", was released in 2006. A music video for the song was released online on December 10, 2006. Album guests will include Little Brother and Sean Price, and a tentative appearance from Slick Rick. Producers confirmed for the project include Ayatollah, Marco Polo, Koolade, Frequency and Quincy Tones. Producers rumored to be involved in the project include DJ Premier and Nicolay.

    Confirmed tracks

    * "Four Brothers"
    * "Traffic" (feat. Little Brother)
    * "Get Some" (feat. Sean Price)
    * "Beware" (feat. Queen Herawin)
