Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

just sat what kind of art/ craft your interested and what you'd like to learn more about.

    User: Snorlax

Art interests: general painting, clay, Ms paint (click on my sig for sample;)) and graphic programs, costume design, card making, performing arts, pastels/ watercolours/ acrylics/ technical pens/ charcoal.

have also worked as a voluntary illustrator with the Irish Wildlife Trust and got some of my technical sketches of wildlife skteches published.

am currently interested in dynamic art/ helping with costume making at festivals.

also did art for the leaving and nearly did it at third level but wound up doing occupational therapy in TCD (don; ask:)!)

would like to learn more about practical crafts, eg things that can be used for everyday purposes, like handmade greeting cards/ bookmarks, and also traditional crafts and painting (especially love to learn to do scenery paintings of the west of ireland)

At the moment I do alot of drawings, graphic designs and have begun to carve wax....

Most of my work revolves around heavy metal/ gothic influences or fantasy (like LOTR etc...)

I'm currently doing Art for the leaving and am concidering doing it at 3rd level.....

I am a painter of the face! And sometimes might knot an auld beard or tache. :) That's my day job...

Other than that I just doodle a lot. Do a lot of life drawing from my head. Use anything from acrylic, coloured pencils, chalk, pastels, pencil. Make interesting picture frames when I've the time. The odd bit of jewellery. Design dresses and hats.

I get into weird moods and decide on doing something and then have to do it.

I've kind of fallen out of my creative side.. and would really like to get back into it. It's been a few years since I painted or sketched.. which I would have dreamt impossible..

Think I need a bit of order.. would love to join a class or something.. to really get back into it properly, as I don't have the motivation to sit down at home like I used to. The only thing I have been doing recently is working with beads and jewellery making..

I sometimes mess about with a bit of knitting, but my main crafty hobby is cross stitch. I started earlier this year and have got quite into it. It's not as useful as knitting, but it's more about the making than the finished product for me - it's great for emptying my head :) great that boards have a craft board now too!

Hi all, I'm pretty new here. I'm one of a dying breed of knitters. I started in school age 7 and took it back up a few years ago. I was really into baby things, mostly due to a baby boom among my friends. now i'm trying lots of new things-funky hats, dolls...

I'm studyin' art in NCAD at the moment, hoping to specialise in either Painting or Ceramics so thats paints and clay down,I have a great interest in photography, and love experimenting in different mediums. I love sketching too, charcoal would be my weapon of choice, otherwise, ink or pencils do the trick just as good. Got into digital imagery last year, but not as advanced in it as I'd like to be!

exactly the same as .... it so hard to get the motivation to start on something new.... I've gotten into Silver clay which is, well silver in a clay form... you fire it and bingo it's silver! it's a real expensive hobby though.... but i'd love to get into painting/sculpting anything again with the same enthusiasm again.... i'm getting worried i'll lose the talent if i don't pick it up again :(

My favorite activities are scrapbooking and jewelry making. A friend introduced me to jewelry about 2 years ago and I would love to learn some more techniques. I also enjoy card making and usually make homemade cards for family.

I do a bit of everything, from sewing to jewellery making to painting to collage, I just like to try to be crafty/creative in every way I can. If I can think of a way to make something rather than buy it, I will. I have to point out this brilliant website which I spend far too much time on, www.craftster.org.

    Good idea!!

Already seen a couple of scrap-bookers and a lot of sculptors of various media and I'm standing up as the second face painter - not professionally though. I'm dong more non-paying bodypainting at the moment (see sig below!) Also into pastels and airbrishing and love colour. Oh, and photography.

What would I like to learn?
Would love to get into street art and grafitti, but without breaking the law. Maybe murals - that's be fun. Painting unusual things, as oppossedto painting pictures or creating pictures of things... Just about sums it up!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I did art for my leaving and did a portfolio course in St Johns Central college in cork before being accepted into Crawford Art College. I did 2 years - failing the 2nd - me and y tutors having different opinions on my work. Want to go back again but got to get back up my confidence and a portfolio started again. I am mainly into sketching, pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, acrylics, watercolours (only in sketches), print, photography and a little bit of 3d work in metal and wood. I mainly do horses, people and fantasy creatures - dragons mainly with griffins and demons. when i find my stuff will photograph and show anyone who is interested

I do watercolors, pen and ink and pencil drawings. YOu can google me at 'artresa' and see some of my older stuff. I can't do much of it nowadays as I am in nursing school (gotta pay the bills *sigh*) and that sucks up 99% of my time. But I love painting, it's why I exist. Once I am done training for my day job, nursing, I will be so happy to get back to having time to paint on my days/nights off!

Hi there just wondering if anyone would be interested in volunteeering to face paint at a fundraiser in greystones on sat 26th of May?? email me ay niamhwade@yahoo.co.uk if you are!!we could really do with the help!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,343 ✭✭✭red_bairn

I'd say there are loads of people willing to do the face painting. You also advertise it about the town. Try the library, Jokers, Eugenes, and perhaps Supervalu.

I would do it but will be heading back late from Gorey that day and then work later on.

I could see if one lad i know is interested and get him to respond to your email here.

    My interests include:

Jewellery- Been experimenting for about 6 months. Up to now I have mainly be working with seed beads and learning stitch techniques. Recently started working with wire but need to learn more about it.

Cross stitch-I had done a small amount in primary school but only got into it again in the last few months.

Photography - I don't get to do this as much as I would like mainly due to the crap weather. But when it's dry I'll quite happily get on a train and stop somewhere just because it looks visually interesting.

Over the years I've also done some scrapbooking, card making and sewing (curtains, small hammocks for toys or small items)

    Hello everyone
I love messing with anything to do with arts and crafts but I love crafts more. Last yr I did a stained glass course and loved it. I bought some of my own tools too. I have just quit a jewellery making course because it's not what I thought it was gonna be. It was all metals and heavy duty stuff and i'm more beads and things. I've just bought a torch and supplies for making my own glass beads. I couldnt find a course in cork so I took a big step and bought a book :D here's hoping I dont set the house on fire lol  I did scrapbooking for a while and if I had more space I'd do more but I make such a mess when I do things! here is one of my very first glass pieces:

I have beeen making silver jewellery for six years and that led into making jewellery with gemstones and pearls. After the last few classes being successful I have decided to teach more and am doing some classes before Christmas.

What I have found is even more valuable to people is somewhere for them to bounce ideas and get good support from other like minded people, so that
is where Irish Craft Association comes in.

It is set up for everyone from students to 'been around for a while' crafts people and artists. It is also interested in having craft/art suppliers and services as members. It provides feedback meetings where everyone gets a chance to give their view on what is needed next for crafts people and can get support, advice and help in how to move forward in their own business.
It really works on the individual and their needs. Insurance is also available through them.
There will be competitions throughout the year, the one coming up is called 'tea cosy'.
The word craft conjures up an old fashioned idea of traditional wares, and this is to show how modern and exceptional craft can be!
JUst to let you know, there is modern thinking and open minds out there!
