Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How much should it be worth out of interest?

€100/150 tops? It's basically a wooden box that holds a dell monitor, a pc, & some controls. You can't charge for the time & effort these things take to build, it doesn't work that way :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Doesn't even have a PC :( Using a multi-in-1 cart with VGA output.

    Apparently this seller would disagree,
And he/she figures their time is worth quite a bit.
Bit mad to price it at that.
For €900, with patience, you'd buy three working upright cabs.
So, for the same money as this bartop you could have
    a Mame machine...
    450px-Idc-silverline-001.jpg
and convert another into a Tate Mame cab,
    IMG_1038.jpg
And the last into a dedicated cab for your favourite title
    IMG_20120516_155118.jpg

All for the same money as the bartop in that there ad, just with a little effort on the part of the buyer to effect the changes and modifications, but doable.

    Are modded consoles banned?
They should be allowed once roms/game isos are "not included" not a selling point.

At €30 you shouldn't have mentioned the mod chip!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 664 ✭✭✭Tomo.Murphy

How do the people advertising their MAME cabs get away with it so? The major selling point on those ads is the emulator/rom list.

That's exactly what in after but not at that price and all the stickers would have to be stripped.
What's all the black spots on the glass are they screw holes?

I was going to post that when I got to work, ha. Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was woeful.

€800 for a 60-in-1 with an LCD monitor seems a bit steep.

At least the COD artwork is just a poster and can be easily removed....

Someone should inform him that is NOT restored, it is bastardised!
The definition of restore is: repair so as to return it to its original condition.

Could you imagine the damage that most likely has been done to the internals if that is the state of the outside of it :( bad times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,146 ✭✭✭CathalDublin

It's CRT has been replaced with a worthless LCD.
    Its artwork is destroyed.
The top glass and clips have been replaced.

IMO the only useful things on that machine are the control panel, the 60in1 and the legs, the rest is scrap, some people might find this a bit harsh but seriously I wouldn't pay over €100 and he could keep the LCD.

Mitch or someone had a good few of these for sale for reasonable money recently, might be worth shooting him a PM and finding out who bought them

    **EDIT**
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=90192823
While these may look rough by the time you pull all the crap off that other machine it'll look alot worse!

I've the same cocktail at home I'm trying to fix up. It was pretty bad non working when I got it. Was 150.

The legs are a nightmare on these, they are usually rusted. i sprayed mine with chrome paint but it chips off, im going to have to try get it dipped or something. Ive repro corner clips i bought that look great, i just have to get the finger out and replace the glass as its in bits. im hoping to finish it by the summer. I cleaned the whole thing and have the coin mech working with old 10p coins and ive about 100 of them in the coin drawer. the monitor was gone and it was tough to get a replacement that fit in it, after trying an lcd and immediately hating it, i got a 13" vga monitor and decased and it and it looks great now.

Tallaght powder coating or Wizard wheels could blast and dip the legs for you, couldn't imagine it costing too much, an alloy wheel is usually between €40-80 depending on size.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,390 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Yeh i was thinking of trying the tallght one, not sure how much it would cost they are an awkward size the legs. but it needs to be done as spraying them is pretty useless to be honest and i dont want to fix it up half arsed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

Is the control panel supposed to be that far down?

Spraying without sand blasting them is probably pretty useless alright
