Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mary-Lou's "tan" is wearing off. She doesn't look like a squaw anymore. Did very well tonight in fairness.

The debate about the treaty in comparison to the Frontline is that's VB programme is much better. There is no need for shouting at all when discussing our future even though it is partly done already.

The debate from the CAP Farmer & rant from Pat Kenny was not needed at all tonight by any means.

Vincent was quite a feeble Devil's Advocate tonight. Didn't even seem very convinced of the 'yes' side himself.

I thought Gavin Titley was a really good panelist last night, he spoke a lot of sense. I hope Vinny invites him back again soon.

Talking about the future of RTE tonight - Rabbitte and O'Cuiv among the guests.

Watched most of the Oireachtas committee today, and it was a waste of time. Much as I don't like RTE in general, gombeens like O'Cuiv and McGrath were trying to play the 'bad D4 securalists' card on RTE, and it went nowhere with the Chairman.

Yes, he was insightful and shed some light on the debate

"What's the name of Jedward's song?".

Vinny is in flying form this evening :D:D:D

VB asking Rabbitte & O'Cuiv to sing Waterline? That would be a laugh. It would be more interesting about that Joke Committee about RTE today IMO.

Imagine If Kenny & Gilmore sang Waterline. Cringe!

Good question by VB to open the debate.

I spent the evening with one eye on the Eurovision and I didn't know the name of the song either. :o

That John Whelan is a no mark senator who was grandstanding too much, today.

John Whelan is a former editor of the Leinster Express and has over thirty years journalistic experience, that more than qualifies him to be there in my opinion.

Could not win a seat for Labour in Laois-Offaly, even with their excellent performance. A no mark in political terms,at least.
You don't think what you posted about him there means he could have his own agenda?

Plus, the Kate FitzGerald comment wasn't needed.

Personally, I feel his journalistic experience gives him a better understanding of the situation than some of the others on the committee.

Rabbitte is taking less crap than usual tonight. He's in rare form indeed.

I wouldn't like to accidently bump into him in the corridor after this.

Rabbite is very close to walking off I'd say

Does Rabbitte think he is the host, now?

Babbling nonsense! There's some backtracking going on here.

It's the first time I've watched VB in a while - I picked a good night!

Rabbitte is very aggressive, I wonder has she hit a nerve.

She works for an 'evil' private media organisation in Rabbitte's eyes. Of course she did.

I have never seen Rabbitte so worked up before, I really thought he was going to storm off the set :D

Could not win a seat for Labour in Laois-Offaly, even with their excellent performance.

To be fair, Laois/Offaly is a strange and rather backward constituency. Despite everything, they returned two Fianna Fail TDs.

    So did County Galway :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

In what used to be Dev's county, Clare only returned one FF TD.

    One too many

I usually think of him as being pompous, but not particularly nasty. There seems to be a nasty mood off him tonight.

What did ye here think of the cringe worthy exchange about the Eurovision at the start?

Just a bit of VB randomness, and in a funny way it showed how out of touch these guys are. The bloody song must be one of the most played on TV/Radio in the last month.

I didn't think it was cringeworthy at all! If Jedward won I'm sure as Minister for Communications Mr. Rabbitte would be one of the first clamouring to congratulate them. Says a lot that he couldn't even name the song.

It wasn't as bad as the dopey Sindo journo. The exchange between her and Rabbitte was cringe-worthy, she allowed him to have the upper hand by making a stupid insinuation and by doing that she wasn't able to land a blow on him about no-one from the RTE authority resigning. He could just bluff his way out of it by getting into high dudgeon about her smartass remarks.

Do you remember the night he attacked Pat "Skelator" Carey. He was spitting fire that night too.

Only got around to watching last night's show now & that lady made a terrible fool of herself .... as VB pointed out she wanted to make an implication but hadn't the guts to back it up, very unprofessional & cowardly but hardly surprising from the Indo. IMO Pat Rabbitt won that round hands down

The accusation was made in the senate, basically a FF senator claimed that RTE paid off the garda Rabbitte defamed, and hey presto Rabitte is happy with RTE.

Called it a "whitewash" I'll see if I can find the text

I agree, he was totally correct to pull her up on her ridiculous behaviour. If she had a point to make about the two events occurring on the same day, she should have made it. It was like something you would hear from a Gossip reporter (not that you would ever expect much from a Sunday Independent hack). Pat Rabbitte was the only person to come out of that exchange with any credit.

Do you remember the night he attacked Pat "Skelator" Carey. He was spitting fire that night too.

There was the distinct whiff of the 'put on' about that ^ he almost copied exactly the genuine emotion and anger of Michael O'Brien's outburst on Primetime. He was looking for a viral youtube vid methinks. He's a crass politician in that respect.

    "Enda can't hack it in a t.v. debate" V.B.

He is probably right. He can't hack it with Angela either the wee lapdog.

Enda Kenny has proven himself time and again to be weak and ineffectual. He's scared sh!tless that he'll be found out on a proper debate programme. No wonder this country is going down the swanee.
