So a possible team of Guus as D.O.F. with Villa Boas as a manager would cost us in the region of 21Million Euro to buy out the contracts and thats before we sign them to their own contracts. Huge investment if its true and if it is I only hope to god that Villa Boas gets more then 2years to build and shape his Chelsea dream.

If Roman is to persuade him to take up the Managerial role he has to be given time, but Villa Boas would understand the pressure having worked with Mourihno under the same extreme conditions.

    Business is picking up. :pac:

He's a big risk IMO. Premier league is a different kettle of fish, and he has to win it or the CL!

Maybe we will wait for Guus untill his contract runs out and then he is DOF

    Arry linky no worky

I wouldnt worry about it TBH. Villa Boas would be like Mourihno, unproven at the " top level " but I think like Mourihno he would easily be able to handle the job. Id take a punt on him and apparently Roman wants to.

Im fine with the Villas-Boas appointment as long as we have Hiddink on board as director of football.

I know that role has never really worked before as everyone is waiting for him to eventually be appointed as manager but I think if thats the position he's wanted all along, then he'll still be day to day as he wanted to be but just not the one with the pressure on his shoulders, but just offering advise as he has done in the last few years!

Jornal de Notícias say #CFC will pay Villas-Boas' €15m buyout clause and pay him €5m per season, the same salary Mourinho earned.

Record report "Chelsea have paid 15 million euro release fee and offered Villas-Boas a "super contract". AVB leaves for London immediately

Have to say this would be a very nice surprise.

Reports from Twitter and a few Chelsea Jurno's is that we are paying his release clause and £5 Million a year wages, over 96K a week.

Would be an excellent addition, some coup from the Chelsea board and Roman.

    Brillant, party booked. :)

Depends, if we finish 5th then yes it will be a one year contract, if we win everything he will get an extension by one year but just about get it. :P

Mmmmm I'd disagree, Chelsea's short term goal should be to win back the EPL and go deep in the CL. If we win the EPL then I'd be happy as long as we got to the Semi's of the CL.

Roman has to know by now ya cant just bring in a manager and expect them to win everything in their first season. Even Jose this year didnt and hes kept at Real, in his first year with Inter he didnt win the CL either.

If it came down to either win the CL or the EPL I'd take the CL.

But realistically we should focus on recapturing the EPL and see how far we get in Europe.

The way this rumour is so fierce at the moment from all corners I'd take it that Villa Boas will take over, things have happened so fast it seems.

Im not counting all my chickens but Villa Boas does look certain to take over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 947 ✭✭✭LanceStorm

15 million tho... really? 15million just to release him from his current contract before we even pay him a days wages...?!

seems a lot, but I guess we've spent 15million on dud players in the past, why not invest 15million in getting the right manager in place!!

hope this is wrapped up in the next 24/48hours!!

    Got to love Wikipedia.

    Check this out : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Villas-Boas

On 20th June, 2011 Chelsea reportedly paid the €15m release clause in his contract to facilitate a move to become their new Manager.

Anyone see much of Porto last season?

Just wondering what sort of footaball they were playing.

    from wiki
His impact at Académica was immediate, not only because of solid results, but also because of the attractive football displayed by the team

TBH I ddint see much of them, highlights from Europa League and highlights from some Portguese games, not enough to comment really.

Agreed, McGarry is usually spot on, my take on it is Guus didnt want it or decided against the move at the moment so they went to Villa Boas.

I think his tweet was something like " MvB to take over with Guus at D.O.F. "

I still think hes credible though as his sources are fairly reliable.

As I said, I think Guus turned it downed for whatever reason and we went with Villa Boas so it seems from all the reports.
