Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where do ye guys think serve up the best breakfast?
Be it a dirty fry after a nights drinking or a more healthy option. There aren't too many places that offer up a selection, other than the typical breakfast, is there?

Wheelers there at Groody Roundabout Maxol. A right artery clogger but they keep the coffee coming and you usually leave the hangover there

for a relatively grease free fry try the Sage Cafe on Catherine Street....went to wild onion for years and got to a stage when the indigestion afterwards was not worth it......Ruth and Bob are a treat to visit though even for coffee alone...yum

Probably for the best, even Supermacs is healthier. Is there anywhere left in Castletroy now?

Wild Onion is the best imo, bring your appetite cos you're gonna come out stuffed :D Their prices are very reasonable especially given the portion sizes. Free coffee refills too. Just don't attempt it on a Saturday morning, it's always packed! Ruth and Bob are such nice people and make everyone feel welcome, it's a pleasure everytime :)

I only ever went back once since that unsavoury incident. Badly hungover after the All Blacks game last Novemeber. Food was ideal, place was clean, owners eyes were out on stalks! :D

I've no grudge either, just won't forget being abused in public like that for no reason in a hurry.

Quite happy to share that with others on here too.

p.s. Brunch on Upper William St. is pretty good these times.

That thread is from 2007

I have to say I've never expierienced any type of rudeness in there. Sure they're the stereotypical Americans i.e. forward and in your face, but I think that's part of it's charm :) It's always good craic, and a great atmosphere.

It's survived pretty well in this economy, so I'm sure plenty of people feel the same as I do.

I just see that the Wild Onion is number 3 on Tripadvisor!

    Do Bobby Byrnes do breakfast?

    Agreed.

Unfortunately the rudeness and abuse we suffered lingers. I work quite close to the place and have seen the proprietors many times since here and there, and I've absolutely no doubt they well realised they were 100% in the wrong.

    I never got an apology.

Oh God did that happen?!! haha
He must have been pretty stressed or something! Never heard of someone returning their toast though! :)

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 17,752 Mod ✭✭✭✭Henry Ford III

He just flipped out for no reason. For what it's worth (I was only having coffee that morning) the toast wasn't browned at all.

Had either of them apologised at the time or since, I wouldn't be writing this.

p.s. Cafe Mint in Henry St. is another good'un. Reports of the John St. Deli are also positive.

That looks a good quality and freshly cooked breakfast, alot of places have stuff cooked off early so it does depend what you want to pay for. That brekkie would do you for the day! :D

alas no, there were a few mushrooms, two pieces of potato, a piece of soda bread and a square of toast left. It's my new mission in life to beat that breakfast though:D
