AkumaKon is a new upcoming anime convention in Ireland. It will be held in The National University of Ireland, Galway.
This new Con will be taking place on the 21-23 of January 2011!

Preregistration for Akumakon is now open!

Preregistration is open until 31st December (Subject to change).

Why should you want to come to Akumakon?

We are lining this convention as one to be remembered for years to come. Firstly we have LittleKuriboh as our special guest! He is a very well known Voice Actor/SuperAwesomeGuy who created the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Series.

If you don't know who this guy is... you really just have to click the link and find out for yourself. You have heard some of the phrases he has created: “Screw the rules! I have money!”, “In another few hours the sun will rise.”, “Must… wash… away… the sin…”, “Oh, come on. Just one little Mind Crush, it’ll barely hurt him.”, “Whenever Kaiba smiles, a puppy dies.”.
Or the more popular "CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES".

We also may have more special guests to actually blow your mind, but these must be confirmed

Outside of special guests we will have a huge range of events taking place from Cosplay, Karaoke, Card Gaming, Console Gaming, LAN, Panels, a Pub Quiz, a Maid Café, an Artist Alley, Anime Showings, Workshops, A CLOAK ROOM and of course, Traders!

Getting a little bit excited now?

Well then, we can tell you that this is being held in NUI Galway's student building "Aras na Mac Leinn" which is a large, yet compact building so you won't have to walk your tired little legs far at all! Not even for drinking related shenanigans as the bar is literally 3 steps outside the building!

Now I think you might be buzzing just a little bit...

More amazing news! We are the cheapest large convention out there at the moment!

This is a very basic list without much info but it should get you started on places you could stay!

Edit: I must also mention that since the University is very centralised in Galway, the max you would have to walk from the majority of these places is 20mins.
To use a reference, it takes 15-20minutes to get from the bus station in Galway to the university.

If you have any contacts in a university you could organise going on the trip with them.
If you are in uni, even better, you can go with a society and potentially get subsidised

Do try to come in a group, conventions are much more fun with more people that you know

I assume you mean "How much are each of the places listed, charging per night, per person, during the winter?"

Honestly I don't know. The details are there for you to ring them up and find out. I won't be ringing them up and getting quotes now as in a week or two, the prices may have changed. Besides, different places might offer group discounts, or discounts if you stay more than two nights. There are too many variables for me to publicly display the prices.

Our final guest has been announced!

Lawrence "MasakoX" Simpson is a British-based voice actor, editor and fellow member of TeamFourStar who also does his own abridged series of Naruto and Kampfer. Over the last five years, Lawrence has lent his voice to over 100 amateur productions ranging from original flash animations to PC games. With this experience of voice-overs, he put together the voice acting series "MasaVox" in which he teaches the art of online voice acting. He now heads the anime review show "Anifile" available on thatguywiththeglasses.com. He is currently working as a freelance video editor in the UK.

I can't get a proper layout of the Aras Na Mac Leinn, but basically look at the building in the first link which the arrow points at. The entire convention takes place in that building. There is a massive hall, a bar, lots of rooms for different events such as anime showings (a list of the places are up on timetable). The hall is split into three sections but we only have access to 2 as another event is taking place in the last section.

I've heard from a few sources that this person has been spreading slanderous reports from the con about me simply because I wouldnt do a picture for her and she treated me rudely as a result. And when I called her on her rudeness she went and complained me and apparently has been complaining since. Rather than speaking to me about it.

I don't check a lot of forums and whatnot so I haven't been able to defend myself. I really would like to clear up the misunderstanding.

I didn't spread slanderous reports about you because you wouldn't to a picture for me. I had no idea that you 'weren't doing a picture for me, all you did was tell me that you were busy one time and wanted to chill out another time. I told you I'd come back later (in no way, shape or form would was I rude to you).

When I came back for the second time on Sunday to ask about commissions you called me on my suppossed rudeness by suddenly exclaiming 'you keep walking away from me when I say I'm not doing commissions!' You then accused me of only being interested in you for your art and that 'you're like talk to the hand', which you said whilst waving your hand in a dismissive fashion.

When I pointed out that I was autistic and lack of sleep was making me feel ill (which in my case means I get really socially awkward and find it hard to talk to people beyond really basic conversation), you continued to be dismissive towards me.

At this point I left your table in tears (having someone be dismissive about your disability can do that to a person) and was upset for the rest of the con. In fact your attitude ruined the rest of the con for me.

I complained about you to the con committee because your disgusting ableism made me feel like ****

As to why I didn't speak to you about it, why would I want to speak to someone who spoke to me in an ableist fashion?

Demonique - you came onto this thread, a month after the event, to specifically complain about this artist. Kaciart - you signed up to boards specifically to argue against this complaint. While I appreciate that both of you wish to have your say here, this forum is not the place for it. Demonique, you have made your complaint to the AkumaKon committee and if you wish to talk to Kaciart specifically, PLEASE take it to PM.

Now, I've said it twice, I WILL NOT say it again. Any further arguing between ye and infractions will be given out. Please appreciate that this is forum is not for the discussion of personal disagreements.
