Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gerrard was/is a fairly average centre midfielder but he was excellent as an attacking midfielder off the striker. The problem is he always saw himself as a central midfielder and wanted to play there and to often managers gave him what he wanted. It's impossible to compare him to Keane and Scholes though, even comparisons between those two are very difficult. Carragher was obviously going OTT because they are good friends and obviously life long Pool players but Gerrard was still a huge player for us. If Gerrard was in the United team he would have just as many medals to his name while if Keane or Scholes spent their careers at Liverpool they'd either have none or would have left in search of them.

Yes Gerrard would have had as many medals ,but i can't help thinking that if Keane (at his best) had spend as much time as Gerrard has at Liverpool , they could/would have had more success league wise especially in the 08/09 season.

Gerrard was immense in the 08/09 season and Keane wouldn't have come close to replacing that. He scored 16 goals for us in a season that we were ultimately let down because we couldn't create enough against the smaller teams so Keane would have been very little use to us and I doubt we'd have even finished second with Keane instead of Gerrard. Scholes would have been a better shout than than Keane.

Wasn't saying one or the other ....
Was thinking a midfield of Keane and Gerrard

And i'm sorry but with Keane in the team there is no doubt in my mind his leadership and strength could/would have got yet different results in one or two of the keg games against the so called smaller clubs which cos ye in the end.

The thing about Keane and Scholes is that they were fundamentally team players. They themselves were great but also made the players around them great.

Gerrard has spent his entire time at a club where he was often the best or second best player. The quality around him at times has been poor. In his crucial development years between becoming a really promising young player to a fully fledged team leader, he adjusted his game in a way to make him work best at Liverpool. It's why imo he plays so many hollywood passes. It's cause to win he normally had to do something special, because the team around him was poorer. Staying at Liverpool has fundamentally made him a worse player imo.

Lof and FSS were being hacked aparently through the ATV2 plugins and so closed them off. Remains to be seen if there will be a fix.

    This.

Keane made every other player around him play 20% better, maybe it was because they were afraid of their **** of him, but it worked.

I always thought that one of Keane's biggest strengths was that he could make the players around him play better. As for english players i'd say Paul Scholes is the best of his generation. Funnily enough i didn't rate him that highly the first couple of years with utd. Think he was used as a forward if my memory serves me right. As for Gerrard i think he has been an outstanding servant for his club. Dont think he done himself any favours with the fans when he tried to go to Chelsea though. Could never have seen any of the utd lads carrying on like that

Scholes played in diamond 4-4-2 as they called it playing as Cam, behind Cole and Cantona when he first came in.

Pretty much developed into a much different player in last 7-8 years alright.

Does it really matter if a player loves the club as long as he gives 100% every time.

Colleens partents have irish blood in this, hence the surname so the kid has a huge irish influence from both sides.

would be class if rooney had a falling out with england and the kid declared for us!

hopefully he does play tomorrow, we struggle big time without him.

I'm all for the development of youth but I think the kid may be a little inexperienced to play for us just yet:)

If homer's right then it's Colleen's parents that would make him eligible.

And knowing Trap, he'd probably leave Rooney on the bench just because everyone wanted him to play.

there are a number of players who should be shipped out and replaced. Park, Evra, Berbatov, Anderson would be the four main ones

    Yes, yes, yes and yes.

I'd sell Evra anyway. Could probably get some decent cash from PSG for him.

There's no way 6 players will be shipped out at once.

The only ones almost certain to leave this summer imo are Owen and Berbatov. I don't think Ando will go, Park and Evra definitely won't. I can see Macheda going on loan again.

I can understand that, defensively hes been shocking, yet going forward hes been brilliant.

And on top of that, hes a absolute legend. Love Evra, always will. Don't want him to start every game, but I'd hate to see him leave.

I just can't see him finishing out his career at OT. If he was going to stay and be happy with a bit-part role it would be fine but he'll head home eventually.

He has maybe two good years left in his legs and then his attacking days are numbered. May as well get some cash for him while we can.

That being said, for around 4 years he was our most consistent player and probably the best LB in the world. The extra dimension he has given us from an attacking point of view has been immense. Plus, he's mad as a bag of ferrets.

What do people think of a cheeky tenner on Brendan Rodgers being the next Utd manager. I think if Sir Alex stays on for a couple more years, it might become more and more likely. Although I still would expect it to be Pep or Mourinho.

That is a mock up fake. Look at the hemming at the bottom. That jersey is nearly wider across than tall. It must be for the fat belly dancer market.
