Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are all your numbers in +3538.... format?
I think there was something about that in ICS... but I could be wrong.

    Maybe give this a try.

I am using Apex launcher and the trick works in it as well.

Ye, sh1t! Does that mean I'm going to have to roll back to Gingerbread to use my phone properly?

ICS has been nothing but bugs from my experience

Probably not, but it might be doing a fresh install.

    480 euros. Woah.

Thought the price would have dropped a bit more since its been out for a while, and with the S III coming out very soon.

Still tempted to get the S II.

I would have thought the same but it just hasn't, only dropped a very small bit in the last 6 months. The Galaxy Nexus is actually cheaper at this stage, despite being much newer. The S2 is still a more rounded, specification wise, that is, phone though. There may be a bigger drop when the S3 is actually released still..

Just discovered you can invert the colours on the stock browser on ICS! Finally the browser isn't going to be sucking the battery dry..

Actually surprised it still costs that much.I bought mine on launch day last year from Vodafone. Cost 480 and it was Sim free

Based on testing I have done - it makes no difference. Its hit and miss on the phone I see the fault with - some contacts display with it and some display without it.

Google said they were aware and it was fixed in 4.0.3 (two days ago). That's now under question as those with that software say its still not working.

I have what I hope is a simple question.

I have copied a load of mp3s to an sd card on an SII but I am not seeing some of the songs in the music player. when i go through the file browser I can see the files that are not in the player but I can play them when I select the file...

    I am puzzled

    any help appreciated.

Does your mp3 player use the MP3 ID3x tags? Are you sure these are set appropriately? Are they encoded in a different bitrate, which might not be supported?

In the picture you can see the properties of one the files im trying to see the music player. I ripped a load of cds at the same time and I can see them. Its just wierd.
There is not much in the way of settings on the SII in regards the music player.
I had been reading that PowerAmp might be the way to go...

working with winamp on the SII. Suppose that will do!!

    edit:
Just checked the music player and the missing albums are now in the default player...
Files transferred 2 days ago, were not there yesterday, are there now...
Could not find a way of refreshing the list in the player. Confused but not complaining

Is there any way of disabling notifications (sound) when on a call. ?

I have a long sound set up so i wont miss it, but its annoying when on a call and the alert sounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,354 ✭✭✭coldfire1x

I think this will do the trick.

If you are coping files by connecting your phone via USB cable then it does not refresh automatically.

You can unmount and remount the card, that will force it to rescan.

    Open Settings
Go to SD card & phone storage
    Unmount the SD Card
    Re-mount the SD card
    Re-open music

Anyone having issues with WidgetLocker and Resurrection Remix? Since they went to AOKP I've had issues with a short press of home bringing up both the lockscreen AND the graphical task manager, very annoying.

well lads looking for a good case. I have the casemate barely there but find it way too slippy. I also had the official mesh case but that flimsy thing broke on me ps I have bad hands from an accident so it has to be grippy.
    any recommendations?
    thanks

Any good app alternative to ITunes for the S2? Looking for something similar to ITunes where I can download music and use as music player.

    Thanks.

The great thing about the Android is that you don't need the iTunes. Get your music anywhere and just copy it onto the phone.

Google Music FTW. Just play from the pink fluffies.

Anyone else having the problem of the phone not recognising the contacts in messages and calls? Yet when you go to edit it picks up the correct name, therefore you cannot edit! Only happening since ics!

If you still want to use iTunes with your android, like I do. Try iSyncr. Works brilliantly with iTunes IMO. Been using it for the last 6 months, great app.. well worth the few euro. Theres a free trial too..

forget about the word and look at the first letter.

    a,b,c,d,e, etc etc

As they make a new version they give it a wacky sweet name. :)

Google use deserts as names to refer to different iterations of the android OS.

If you go into settings, about phone it'll tell you what software version you are on. Most likely it'll be 2.3.x which is Gingerbread, if it's 4.0.x it'll be ICS (ice cream sandwich). 3.0 Honeycomb refers to tablet OS so you can ignore that, 5.0 and 6.0, Jellybean and kettlecorn respectively haven't been released yet, so you can ignore them also.

Think of it like whether your pc is running windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, Win 7 etc

What the hell happened? So my phone died yesterday,I plugged it in to charge and powered up later. It first started in safe mode so powered down and back again, now my widgets disappeared (can be put back), I've to sign into everything again, and the buttons to start some apps are missing, but I can start them through the play store.

Android is the name of the phone operating system, by Google. It has different releases, aka versions, editions or iterations, from version 1 to the current version 4. These versions have not just a number, but also a name. So version 4 is nick named Ice Cream Sandwidch.

You should always keep your phone updated to the latest version as new releases come with improvements, bug fixes, stability fixes, security fixes, design changes and so on.

Kies can keep your phone up to date.

    Make sense?

Phone used to charge up fairly quickly, but now it seems to take around 5 hours! Any reason for this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,757 ✭✭✭Deliverance XXV

Since the update I am finding the battery to be better and crazily enough, the phone has not randomly turn off since. In nearly two weeks (since the update) it has never turned off, where it used to turn of once a day or so.
After the upgrade, I had issues with GO Launcher and my mobile network but they seem okay now. Were the edit camera shortcuts always there? Great little feature (Whether it was ICS or not)

What are you doing with the phone during charge?
If you are heavy internet / GPS / etc, it will take an age to charge. It may even discharge while "charging" if you are using more power than the charger can provide.
