Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just a heads up.... the amateur competition is back again this week. After trying (and failing) to adapt the international version, they're back to the tried and tested format (invention test & professional kitchen).

Short season though.... only 15 episodes, with 3 a week to start off.

    9pm on Tuesday.

I dont know what it is but Aki is really starting to grate on me!

Also does anyone else think Shelina is the image of Callie Torrez from Greys Anatomy?

Agreed - find her incredibly irritating! It's a combination of the voice, as if she's trying to talk through her teeth which are taking over her mouth, and her constant bopping about and nodding and moving. She actually cannot stay still.

Yep, first thing I thought when I saw her, and she seems to get more and more like her ...she doesn't have the so-white-you-need-sunglasses teeth, though! :D

I like Aki... her enthusiasm is infectious. Can't see her going making it to the end though.

Enthusiastic she sure is, but I think she just comes across as a hyperactive kid :o

Great stuff! Hated the format last year, if I wanted that sort of nonsense I'd just go and watch big brother/x-factor or one of the other countless brain dead clones of it. Good to see it's about the food and the skill again.

Sorry mate, they reverted to last years format again (a challenge per episode, kicking one or two off at the end of each episode).

Yeah she seems like an overly excited hamster.
And when she was refusing to give in on her three sauces and help the team in the Bath Challenege didn't exactly put her in my good books.

A worthy winner was crowned for sure, like all the winners that person will do very well.

The desert challenge when there was only 4 left was very tough.

Yeah even 3 weeks ago, you could tell who the winner would be.
Talented lady. Bit of a mango obsession though. :)

I probably would not like a lot of her cooking, as I don't like heavy spicing (with a low threshold of heaviness). But so be it: that does not mean that she is less than a great cook.

What pleased me was that John and Greg were able to accept that somebody could have a somewhat specialised talent, and still win. One often gets the impression that they are looking for cooks who cover all the bases equally well, with a bit of bias towards classic (French) methodology.
