Crew Cab Conversion 2012 regulations?

Hi,

I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on the latest regulations regarding crew cab conversion. I want to to put a crew cab into my standard 3 seat van.

I hear rumours that by law you have to get a 'factory crew cab' and that joe soap cant convert his van anymore. Is this true?

I have a guy to do the job but I want to make sure i'm not wasting my time or money before I go ahead.

What is the procedure? Where do i start?

I'm looking to do the same thing myself and I found this crowd on Gumtree.ie. I'm waiting for them to get back to me. They supply the engineer report for insurance etc

New vans must be factory made.
Used vans can be converted and VRT must be paid.

aujopimur, I was just wondering is the VRT paid after the log book has been submitted. How exactly would you go about paying the VRT after the job was done and certified?

The reply I got from the gumtree people

''The price for 3 seats with an engineers report would be £550 + vat and the price for the cheapest side window would be £175 + vat.''
