Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm interested to see how many people are doing this and getting away with it, also where do you buy them from?

Kemos: Post removed. That's naughty. There is to be no discussion of illegal activity - i.e. Avoiding customs charges, exceeding importing allowances, etc.
    OP: Use the search function.

I used to but then one day i got a letter from customs saying they were holding my 200 cigs until i pay a customs and excise bill of Ir£85. 200 cigs in the shops were only about IR£60 at the time. Haven't bothered since.

Same reason people buy cds online?
    getting away with it
    It can be done legally.

Seeing as you can transport goods freely within the EU, surely it would be possible to order them legally online from Spain, or somewhere, with much lower taxes on them?

Any business expert here know if that's true?

Are we allowed post sites or is there some rule against that here on boards?

Been discussed in a lot of old threads, it is legal. I think it is legal to send from anywhere, you are simply liable to pay duty, it is not illegal. But within the EU I think you are not liable for duty on low amounts, or else they just dont bother.

With one place you set up a standing order for 6months or so. Every single day you get a pack of 20 in the post. All above board, but is it worth the while for an post to go through the administration costs to collect the €5-6 duty every single day. To process a duty collection must cost around €5 at least.

That looks to be from before the court ruling

    yeah I guess so.

I'm coming home for xmas, and bringing as many ciggies as I can. I'd rather pay the duty in Germany than give 1 Cent to the robbing basta*ds in the Irish Govt.;)

Ah, don't mind my hungover head so...
Yeah smokes online, I always distrusted foreign smokes...they usually all taste like Camels IME, also dubious about some sites perhaps selling imitation fags packed with sawdust and floor sweepings.

I've taken to snorting snuff, to supplement my smoking.

It's cheap as fuk, well here anyway, 1.80 a pack, lasts for a couple of weeks, feeds my addiction, although i have to sneak around and duck into toilets to have a sniff, least people think me a junkie and now I only smoke cigarettes at social events and on those occasions when it's necessary to maintain my image.

Cheap Ryanair day trip to Spain ftw.

That's what i do,€20 return flight(booked 2/3 months in advance) to Madrid or Barcelona and stock up while there. Last time i was over was February, bought 3000 Marlboro and saved €735 compared to buying them here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,932 ✭✭✭The Saint

My work has a duty free shop and I can get cartons of smokes for around €18 each, a good bit less than airport duty free afaik. I love perks. :D
