Supporters is a word that has lost most of its meaning these days unfortunately.

Homer made it clear that he doesn't expect him or want him to get the sack.

Similar comments were made about people who were critical Moyes early on, we know how that ended.

    That was 20 years ago.

Do you remember when we had to qualify after finishing 3rd in the 1994/95 Premiership. We qualified and came last in our group.
    That was 10 years ago.

We will win the CL within three to four years.

94/95 was not exactly 10 years ago :)

We also failed to get out of the group in the CL 10 years ago, odd isn't it

Nothing here to suggest that's a possibility.

Dear God almighty... "Madridesque" .. Are you actually joking? If they experienced what we have gone through (in terms of fall from grace) there would be riots on the streets on Madrid... The fans of United have been exceptional in supporting the club through its transition from the SAF era.

And who did that fall from grace come under? Was it the current manager? Nope as I recall he took over a team that was a shambles due in a very large part to SAF and has bit by bit got us back to where we wanna be.

United fans have been exceptional? Was that when "we" flew the plane over OT? Or was that when "we" booed the team off after a bad performance? Come down off your high horse with the exceptional crap. Unfortunately many fans of United are now happy to be just like everyone else and moan about everything thats wrong and talk about our traditions of 442 and the way SAF did it. And yet they are the first to talk about sacking a manager that has us 3 points off top of the table.

Madridesque support. I await the white hankeys at the next game at OT if we dont win 3 nil

the pundits there including Rio have been saying there LVGs job is now on the line and the club has not made progress, saying there isnt enough quality in the team and there has been a very questionable transfer policy.

    Christmas 2013
still in contention for champions league qualification - 3 points off 4th despite worst start to PL in 25 years.
heading for the 1/4 final of the champions league.
semi final of the league cup.
some fans calling for the managers head, but majority still behind manager.
    fans calling for january signings.
43 goals scored in all competitions.

    Christmas 2015 -

    £300m spent.
    out of the champions league.
    out of league cup.
4th in the league, barely hanging on to it.
playing worst football in 30 years.
majority of fans calling for the managers head, un-precedented booing and discontent inside old trafford.
    fans calling for january signings.
37 goals scored in all competitions.

and people think we have made "progress".....

Great post and when you read it like that it's actually shocking

Oh yeah, we had a manager out of his depth one time so any time another manager looks to be having a rough patch or things are not all rosy in the garden they become basically the same person

Jaysus Homer, that little survey question of yours that I'm sure you thought would show how overwhelmingly in the majorty your "voice of the fans" opinion is, has well................ kinda backfired.

you know what, even though your are the most clueless internet poster ive ever seen, i hope you never change...you are the most entertaining poster on here and a real source of a good old laugh even during these tough times.

i asked a very basic question, which many people were happy to answer and give honest opinion. i wasnt creating any survey, i wasnt looking for any specific answers, i asked a simple answer to see if people had now changed their minds on him.

you should read back though my posts this afternoon, ive said LVG is going nowhere and i said before the game, that i would not ask for him to be sacked. i am not asking for him to be sacked now...in saying that, if he left tomorrow, i would be delighted but only if it meant Carlo was able to come in.

just incase you are a little bit confused, i think this post clears it up for you -

doh, should be 2004/05, and it was the following season we had to go through qualifiers and came last in our group.

Its nice when people put stuff down for you to copy/paste isn't it.

Shame they often leave out certain points, but they normally don't actually enforce the point they are trying to make so they are better left off that.

Was that from RedCafe or Reddit?

Lol the mental gymnastics you do to prove a point are amazing. Embarassing for you but amazing.

Moyes had us finished 7th in a Prem league that we never finished below 3rd in. A goal on the weekend and we are top.

Moyes's UTD collapsed after Christmas (of course you know this because you were calling for his head) and you are trying to positvely compare him now. Where as LVG's UTD look more solid than Moyes.

We were never going to win the UCL anyway. We still have three trophies to possibly win.

    Barely hangoing onto 4th lol

Another thing I want to address that is seriously cringeworthy. Us utd fans are made of the same stuff as every other fan in the world. Embarrassing to suggest or think we are in any way better than anyone else. Except liverpool of course.

I'm not a fan of questioning whether anyone in a "real" supporter based on whether they are a fan of the current manager or not.

So what's the approach for the EL? The last time we were in it I wanted us to take the competition seriously and really try and win it. This time around I just don't think we have the numbers to justify taking focus off the league.

Ha! I just read one of them! Majority of fans calling for the managers head :) Brilliant! I suppose we will see the banners all over the stadium then? Protests etc?

I think someone has mixed up the meanings of majority and minority

David Moyes was by and large treated better for 8 months than at any other club, he was clapped off the pitch every week despite being in 6th or 7th.

he would have been sacked at any other top club by December, the fans kept him in the job.

its a completely different story now though. and fans are entitled to have what ever opinion they want be it in support of LVG or against him, theres valid points in both sides of the argument to have him kept or sacked. im somewhere in between.

It's a stupid thing to get mad about and has been explained time and time again.

You think I should feel stupid because Giggs's actions (or inaction) makes me mad?. That in itself is kind of stupid. It was just my opinion, not a call to arms.

I hope you never change either Homer, your a great source of entertainment. Your I speak for the "real fans" speil is wonderous. Your tanturms after every negative result are a great source of chuckles.

You lost your sh1t in the summer when LVG passed on Pedro. Clueless, sham of a club etc. Pedro who has gone onto be a massive flop in his 5 apps for Chelsea. The way you put yourself out there with your statements and predictions is great. Never change.

You act like you don't want LVG sacked but don't support him, your are comparing him to Moyes. Lol we are ulucky not to be top of the league but you continue.

    Stay classy Homer ;)

theres valid points in both sides of the argument to have him kept or sacked. im somewhere in between.

I'll be honest, you may say you are in between, but your rhetoric (especially over the last few days) has shown you really aren't. A few days ago, you declared that if United won the league with LVG, it would be the "Death of Football". That isn't the language of someone who wants the manager to stay on. You're posts show an obvious desire to out LVG, constantly outlining the negatives but rarely offering any positives, but for some reason, you keep ending your arguments by adding "...but I don't want him out" at the end of posts.

Forget it Jake, its Chinatown. The same people who defended Moyes to the death are going to do the same to Van Gaal. Some people judge what is put in front of them, others ignore whats happening in the name of faith. Same as it ever was.
