I'm sorry if you take offence :o but if I find the view on Google Maps - incontrovertable proof of the scene...
I mean to say how many towns have "Mr Richards" with "AD Insurance" next door - especially when Google search for Mr Richards Location:Ireland throws up Castleblaney and #1 hit! And when I go to street view it is the same view!
    I wasn't being rude! I was 99.9999999999999999% sure!

plenty of times in mk1 of the thread, it was a case of- if you can prove you're right, go ahead to keep the thread moving.

I think it's probably OK to go ahead and post if you also post the google maps link to the same place (such as I did, in this post) but don't forget it has also happened that a person posted an incorrect answer and didn't wait for confirmation (such as in this example)

Unfortunately "that" one had been identified back in Jan 2014! :)

God knows how that showed up as the last post on the thread for me!

Fred Swanson's post had two premises with names visable - Mr Richards and AD Insurance. I searched online for both and narrowed it down to Castleblaney - Google search for "Mr Richards" in Ireland had #1 hit as Castleblaney! When I entered Castleblaney into Google Maps search preview of street view actually featured AD Insurance shopfront.

Once I clicked on the Street View Preview I got both shopfronts on screen.

And once I moved the POV I got the view that Fred had posted!

My post wasn't a guess. My search was conclusive, incontrovertible proof that the town/village/city was Castleblaney Co Monaghan.

I thought it was OK to go ahead and post...

Next time I'll just answer and wait!

Anyway - anybody know this city:D/town:)/village...

    Waterford?

What's confusing for me is when people post a guess without a question mark afterwards.
If I see someone has posted,

    Waterford

then I think, oh they've recognised it, no point trying further.

Is that a guess or are we doing "20 Questions" to narrow down the options?:D

No it's not Waterford (city) and I'll add that it is not in County Waterford either!
Only 31 counties to go! ;)

Thanks Grumpy. I'll wager it will take me less than 20 goes :)

Cool. I'm off out for the day now so won't have time to do the next one until this evening. If anyone else wants to do it, fire away.

There's probably other more efficient ways, but:

    1. Find a place on Google Streetview
    2. Ctrl+PrntScrn
    3. Open MS Paint or something
    4. Paste
    5. Scribble over any indentifying features
    6. Save the file on your computer
    7. Add it as an attachment to your post
    8. Follow the link in your own post, and Copy it
    9. Edit your post, and click on the little mountains & sun icon with the yellow sky
    10. Paste in your link, and Save your edited post.
