    Well you asked about the IDF. I presumed you meant the Israeli Defence force.

    Always one that presumes too much:rolleyes:. Irish Defence Forces. The title is frequently used in the broadsheets.

    Considering this thread was about Aer Corps operations in Gormanstown how you could presume i was asking about Israel.............:confused:

    And now will this thread go more off track with a debate about the correct title or abbreviation term for the Irish Defence Forces .

    It's the PDF. On the uniform it says Defence Forces Ireland. Yet it's still the PDF.

    It may say irish defence forces but it's common knowledge we are the PDF and the Israelis are the IDF

    Yes we have quality control measures in place and no they do not dictate exercises.

    Post as many official links as you want. The fact is I am a member of the PDF and you are a civilian (I presume). I know what organisation I belong to.

    Now, please post some official military links whereby we refer to ourselves as IDF. Your "Irish Defence Force" argument is invalid because nowhere do they state we are "IDF".

    I've seen less childish arguments in my kids school. Outside of the republic it's the defence forces of Ireland, DFI. Of which the PDF is a part of. But in reality outside of Ireland they don't argue over such things an would probably call it the irish military/army/navy/airforce.

    I know, seen a few threads here descend into armed forces versus civilians with a genuine interest who then become the subject of smartass remarks used to highlight a technical mistake that's why I said originally

    I have a mental image now of some Jobsworth refusing to patch civilian authorities through to his barracks commander in the event of an invasion because they called them the Irish Defense Forces on the phone.:D

    What is the operational life of the Irish PC9's? Which other armed forces use the PC9? Do they use them in a similar role?

    Well it's a Irish military forum with many informative people so it was a good place to start don't you think? Well maybe not judging by your previous posts.

    I did get answers from other kind posters in the original thread who weren't pedantic enough to focus on a particular part of my original question so it was worthwhile asking IMHO.

    I even answered a question you asked in the past in the WW1 forum regarding a RIR medal that you yourself could have found out by simply googling because the answer was "out there" as you put it. I wonder how you would have reacted if posters told you to go off to Google it or look up an RIR forum which seems to be a point of view you seem to be advocating now rather than allowing posters the option of asking questions and receiving answers here.

    All of the answers to the many questions asked on here daily in the many forum on boards, can be in theory be found in the greater internet too. Do you want me and other Board posters to stop asking questions on Boards.ie because the answers "are out there"?

    Perhaps we should have separate thread now on who can be allowed ask questions in this forum.

    Yes, that's true, and I thanked you at the time, too, even though it was not for me that I was asking.

    But it was an IRISH matter. Asking about who else has the PC-9 apart from the RoI is a simple matter of looking at the wiki entry.

    Many times we have had an internet 'clip around the ear' from the mods, reminding us to keep the Irish boards to Irish subject matters.

    That's all.
