I will also be running in this one, my first race ever. I've only been training since mid-February and have only been training on the track, and am wondering is it a big adjustment running on the road? Anyways best of luck to all!

Where's the best place to park for this?

Last year I came early and parked in Stephens green shopping centre and it was very handy but tomorrow I'll be getting the luas with the family.

My pacing strategy is to aim for sub 21 but we'll see how long that lasts:rolleyes:

Really looking at this as more of an experiment though to see where I stand fitness wise and the effect, if any, of all that base training.

What about yourself woddle? Sub 20 must be a cert at this stage I would say but by how much;)

I'm going to be brazen and say yes it is a cert :D
    Best of luck

I'd the say the biggest adjustment will be running in a race rather than the track surface/environment. You might find that (a bit like Zoolander) you're not an ambiturner. So when you're warming up, make sure that you practice a few right turns, just to get the practice in. :)

    1. Have a super strength coffee (3 sugars!!!) 30 min beforehand
    2. Get to Dawson St with 2 min to go until the off
    3. Do a half-assed warm up and start at the back of the field so you spend most of the 1st km dodging bodies

Wow what a day - superb weather and great atmosphere apart from the above. In my lactate-induced state I thought the clock said 18:xx when I was coming back onto SDawson St, but it was 19:xx. Clock time 20:15, chip time 19:47. Happy enough given the prep, its been too long since I've raced. The new flats got me a few seconds too, so result allround. Now just need to do this x2 for the 10km!

Sorry didn't see any of you boardsies around, hope everyone else enjoyed the race as much :D

Thoroughly enjoyed the race this morning. Came in 20:27 on the chip timing. Delighted with my time, considering lack of preparation. I really felt it on the last km. I lost 30 places in the latter half... guess one of them was to you Christeb!

Congrats on PB-ing :) I was down as Brothers Pearce AC too, and I registered online...

Chip 26.22 / Gun 26.58 here. Absolutely ****ing delighted, it's about a minute faster than my "wildest dreams" target for this one. :)

Really looking forward to the Great Ireland Run now, tempted to shoot for a 55 minute target instead of 60.

Lined-up at the start and all thoughts of taking it easy and pacing my wife and friends for a 30 minute finish disappeared out the window (they all managed a sub-30 minute finish anyway!)

I got 19:04 chip time, and 19:17 on the gun. Very happy with that as it's my first ever 5K race. Also, Mr McMillian puts me on 3:05 marathon, and he hasn't been wrong for me yet! Great day out! Will definitely do it again next year, if I'm around.

Signed up as Boards AC but ended up as Brothers Pierce AC as well. Timed it as 19.01 and knocked nearly a minute off my PB so very happy with that.

Did anyone think that the 2nd to 3rd kilometres were very far apart and the 3rd and 4th were very short or are i raving? My splits are very odd for those kms. Well done to all of us in Brothers Pierce's:D

still buzzing after my 1st ever race! only started running in Jan & think this has well & truly given me the bug!

Clocked 24:54/24:37 (still don't know difference between the 2 times!?) which I think was fairly decent especially after hitting a wall really early on after taking off like the clappers at the start full of nervous energy & excitement!

well organised & supported from my point of view & great weather

    roll on the next race!

Sure I wouldn't have known you anyway! All I could see after crossing the finish line was tarmac and the black spots before my eyes as I fought for breath. Great running!

Hey all! Congrats on all the great times and the PB's. Wow you all did such great times.

Did the race myself today too - chip time 26.43. PB for me too. Just started running recently...someday I'll do that sub 20:D...might be waiting a while though!:pac:

I put my long run on hold this morning and got out and took some photos of the race. They're not great but better than nothing I suppose. No idea how you slipped by without me seeing you Woddle!

Some fine photos of the leading pack. You managed to snag me, on my final sprint down Dawson Street. Right hand side.

Damn - the leading pack photos at the start were by Lindie Naughton! Top corner of Dawson street were mine...
