I think we need a Results thread so people can post the latest that they have heard from the various counts official and unofficial-the tallies etc.

That type of information should be coming out already.

Though it's not the way I voted I'm thinking the No's might edge it going on the vox pop's on the radio this morning from outside the polling stations yesterday-though it is very tight it seems.

Please don't debate the treaty here-just discuss the likely outcome, the tallies and post the latest news on the counts as you get them

All the tallies I have heard so far are giving the No vote a convincing lead.
Some of the Dublin constituencies are as much as 60:40 NO.

News talk suggesting big No returns, 80 /20 in some areas.

60/40 in favour of No seems to be the average with only 50/50 in some areas (Dun Laoghaire).

working class areas strongly against so far but even middle class areas coming out against too.

Is paddy power still taking bets does anyone know?

    I doubt it.
I can tell you the tally in the Arklow town boxes so far is 80% no.
Thats where I voted and it's the biggest No vote I've heard of so far.

Definite rejection of the treaty now I think.

    Good to hear it

Paddy Power no longer has it listed on the website.
I was using that as a simple 'exit poll' yesterday.
Yes was 2/9 odds on at one stage and No was around 9/4 but that difference continued to decline during the day.

Last time I checked yesterday they were almost level. A good indicator, albeit a hugely depressing one

PP took it down yesterday evening and payed on a YES vote!

    Hi Black briar.
Are all county wicklow's ballots being counted in Arklow?
If so have you seen anything for the county overall yet?
Any news from wicklow town yet either?

    thanks

Galway East 54% NO (Tally on all boxes)

As for Paddypower, seeminly they have said they will most likely be paying out on all No's and Yes's. But, wait for it, its only 180k (in winnings).

Boards poll predicted a 45.7% Yes vote to a 54.3% No vote (when you exclude the people who didnt vote).

It will be interesting to see just how close that prediction is.... its looking prophetic at the moment.

Paddys will have calculated how much the payout on Yes would be. Lets say thats X. Then they look at what they would pay for the publicity that it will generate and if thats <X and they want that publicity then they will do it. I used to work with them and everything is done in a very "efficient" and calculated way.

When they paid out Chelsea fans a few years ago, they got more press then they could ever have dreamed possible.

Anyway, back to the vote and all ... my whole fascination now is with how close the Boards poll will be to the actual count. :)

    LOL he is right

On a side note there was as poll on the peoplesrepublicofcork.com and the result was 57 % / 41% NO
2% of the vote was spoiled
Pretty accurate for Cork but the boards.ie poll seems to be more akin to the overall national result

    Sligo result 57/43 NO

    Tipp result in NO win.

    698 spoilt

ps: Most (FF TD's, Cullen, Martin) and others are now calling the election result 'No'

    > Pfffffffffff.... dont you know anything? I'm a God, ffs.

God, Prophet, and spirit all rolled into one?!?! not another 3-in-1, we never heard the end of the last chap to claim this .... ;-)

Yeah, he ended up a zombie...

I havent seen one constituency declared for Yes. Even Dun Laoghaire was 50/50.

    270,588 (Total votes) 8.87%
    114,292 Yes
    155,160 No
    1,136 spoilt

There havent been any Yes results in constituencies declared so far, but some (6?) are predicted to be Yes going by the tallies. The tally for Dublin SW was inaccurate though and has been officially counted emphatically No.

    12,601 Yes
    23,456 No
    124 spoilt
