2015 Goals

    So I hope this hasn't been started already but in the last few days I have been looking forward to the 2015 season and deciding on my goals for the year.

    My goals:
    10km: sub 40
    Hm: sub 90
    Marathon: sub 3.30
    Ironman 70.3: complete still standing!!

    Fingers crossed I won't be hanging my head in shame and embarrassment this time next year when I have to quote this post!

    No shame in setting tough goals and not hitting all of them.

    Don't get injured! Injury free 2014 has been absolutely fabulous.

    After that...

    HM sub-1:55
    Finish a half-ironman
    Run another marathon
    Get my weight down to 63-64kg-ish before my wedding day in May

    Keeping my goals simple in 2015:

    Focus on 800m/1500m all summer long

    Win more medals with my club

    Give a 400m a lash

    Stay away from road races

    Touch my toes

    Enjoy it

    My goals are very simple really


    Recover from injury and stay injury free
    Get regular structured training completed

    If the above happens then
    5km: sub 25
    5 mile: sub 40
    10km: sub 50
    Hm: sub 2.15

    HM only if i've gotten over the injury and the training has gone well. Otherwise it will stay at the shorter distances predominantly 5K to 10K distances

    1) 5km - 16:25

    2) To come in the top 3 in a race. I've only run 4 races and came 5th twice, so it would be cool to make that next step up.

    3) Maintain a healthy weight while increasing mileage. I'm fairly light as it is and I've been prone to dropping weight in the past (unintentionally).

    2015 targets:

    Some of the times are aggressive but if I get close I am moving in the right direction

    Non-Time Targets
    - 6 PB's
    - 1st team scorer in atleast 2 road races/Championship races
    - 3000 miles
    - Average 250 mpm
    - Atleast race once a month (consistency)

    Times
    800m: sub 2.04
    1500m : sub 4.12
    3000m: sub 9
    3000m S/C: sub 10.15
    5000m: Sub 15.45
    10,000m: Sub 33
    HM: sub 75

    1 mile <5.30 mins
    5km < 18 mins
    5 m < 30 mins
    10km < 38 mins
    10 mile < 65 mins
    Half Mara < 85 mins

    I might as well try the first 3 but I will just time them myself.
    My main goal is just to keep at the running and enjoy it. If I do that hopefully the times will come.
    I haven't included a marathon time as I want to concentrate on the times for smaller distances for the first half of the year and re-evaluate then.

    Only two important ones for me!

    1500m: sub 4:15
    5k: sub 16:30

    Have a few other time goals in the 800m, 400m and mile but those two will do me nicely!

    Have a few non-time goals as well including putting increasing importance on flexibility and putting in a proper stint of base training (starting next week!).

    1/2: 72:30
    Marathon: 2:35:00

    No I haven't mixed these up with my 2016 goals and yes I have to hit each on the exact second above...or maybe below.

    Also:

    - Run 3000+ miles
    - Have a go at the 10 round numbers (i.e run some shorter track races)
    - 5 x top 3 finishes

    Right.... Here we go again.... Another spin of the wheel....

    5k: sub 15:30
    10k: sub 32:30
    10 mile: sub 54:30
    1/2: 1:13
    Marathon sub 2:32:30
    10 round numbers........ again................

    Looks like I'll hit around 3,970 miles for this year, so next year, maybe I'll plumb for 4k miles.

    *Edit* surprisingly similar to Jebuz' numbers!

    1. Be consistent
    2. Complete the 1,000 mile challenge (at least !)
    3. Complete Donadea 50K before it is dark or UM1 removes me from the course :eek:
    4. Sub 2 HM
    5. Back with Marathon target later in the year :)

    id like to go sub 40 mins for 10k. I started running 3 months ago and posted 42.30 2 weeks ago. I have lots of belly still to lose so i think i can achieve it. have to really sort out my diet. have being making changes recently but lots still to do. like to lose half, or 3/4 of a stone more.

    I think a sub 40 10k is much more of an enjoyable goal then 3.30 marathon or that. marathon is big auld commitment and those long runs are tough. plus im not sure if am a running enthusiast yet. i played team sports most of my life so i struggle with the isolation of it at moment or running with one person is also toughish. i might get to like it if i get fitter or maybe i should get headphones\radio.

    Have really enjoyed this forum last few months. thanks for all the info.

    Run more consistently not taking a few weeks off here and there for no reason.
    Work somewhere with access to a shower so I can run at lunch and take the pressure off my evenings.
    Actually do my LSRs every weekend and run then with someone to alleviate the boredom.

    5k: Sub 20 (About 2m30s improvement required)
    10k: Sub 40 (About 6m improvement required)
    HM: Complete it without walking the the last 2k feeling like death....

    I think you're certain to go sub 40 if you managed to run 42:30 already, having only taken up running three months ago. Seems like a pretty soft target tbh, especially if you've got 'lots of belly to lose' as you claim :)

    Get to the bottom of my injury and get back running pain free.
    Shift the two stone I put on and if possible run a fast half marathon sub 72.

    here's mine, I've put my pb's for this year in the brackets to give you an idea of my standard

    5k 18:00 (18:20 on a net downhill course)
    5m 30:30 haven't done one yet
    10k 38:00 (39:01, I should have done better for that race)
    10m 1:04:00 (1:05:14)
    HM 1:25:00 haven't done one yet

    I just noticed they're almost identical to tigerandahalf

    Goals for 2015

    Maintain an average weekly mileage of 60ish miles all year round

    Get on the Fair Maiden's Women's Round Table for the 800m (sub 3 mins)

    A 5k time of 22:xx

    A half marathon of 1:4x

    The easiest target for me to achieve will be the first one! The rest will be big challenges!

    In no particular order

    1. Go sub-40 10k
    2. 3.30 marathon
    3. Run a mile race (with no alcohol involved;))
    4. Stay injury free
    5. Indulge in some lower mileage and shorter races over the summer.
    6. Enjoy all of the above.
