Would anyone be interested in doing a wow meet up night in Dublin? I got a cafe with 12 machines or you could bring your own pc. Maybe all start new characters on the same server and do a leveling night or something along those lines. Maybe monthly or weekly. And talk about everything wow. Would anyone be interested, because wow is still my favourite game of all time, no matter how many times a stop playing it. I just can't get away from it. It always calls me back.lol

With the Irish community so spaced out across different servers you would need a goal in mind in terms of what you wanted to do, either all group up in a party to play or create a fresh bunch of chars and level up together.

Doesnt sound like a bad idea but need a concept first.

    Thanks for replies guys.

That's a great idea Calhoun, going to put something down on paper for this, and set some gaols. I was thinking everyone starting new characters and get levelled up in time for the new expansion. If I can get at least 5 -10 people on here we could meet up a overclocker.ie cafe in ballyfermot. Think this will be a lot of fun. I have always been looking for people that share a love for this game.

    We could have arena teams.
    Raids
I will even make our own team jerseys for everyone that's joins the team.
And Much more, maybe have it like an elite wow club in Ireland :)

Anyone got any ideas? I run LANs all the time (overclocker.ie), but this is my favourite game. If anyone gots some ideas for this please let me know. Our if you want to be apart of this let me know here and I will set a date for this, if I get at least 10 people that are interested, then I will set a date.

Once again thanks for replies guys. I really want to get this going.

Arena teams would work as they are x-realm, as would flex raiding, normal wouldn't unless people leveled chars in one place, you could however have like a lvl 60 or 70 only guild and do content for TBC ect. Finally youcould also do some wpvp on timeless isle ect or all over wow.

You guys could quit being cheapskates and transfer 1 char to a selected server and start from there?!

Depending on the side your on that could cost upward of 45 euro for a once off event. What do you do with the char after it ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 641 ✭✭✭johnf26

would only take a little over a week to level up a new char

For sure and not to mention that although leveling can be boring can be quite fun in a group messing around.

This is why nothing ever happened with an Irish guild from boards.
    Nothing but cheapskates.

45 quid isnt that much if you actually put some effort into getting that lan party stuff off the ground..

Save some cash and do it, 10 euro a week.. id say you spend more on a nights drinking and have shag all to show the next day.

Generalise much ? Are you still sore that no one wanted to start something with you?

I personally don't drink often and spend more money in the past 2 months on server xfers it would have to be for something concrete and decent for me to consider more.

Why does it matter to you anyway you said it was creepy ? And stop going on like he Irish community owes you something with attitude like above you dont really scream come play with me . This is one of the reasons the Irish community dont do much.

Why do you need to move server? Faction maybe but not server.

Well if you were to do it right you would need to one get census of here folks are horde/alliance before anything happened if your were doing it with 90s.

Would then really investigate of server your on is worthwhile to faction change , server balance is completely eased up now you could go from a 90% represented side to 10%. If it's a chat you want to play you be spending money to gimp yourself .

Other than normal raiding though I take your point we don't need to be on the same server.

I would just like to see this actually get off the ground and not get stuck on technicalities before going anywhere.
Early days with plenty of planning ahead, etc.

As already said, leveling isn't a massive deal these days. WoD will give you a level 90 of choice. Heck, leveling could be part of the adventure for some.

Lets keep on track and see if this goes somewhere. :)

I have offered quite a few suggestions to get it off the ground it would be nice to see but needs and overall concept and plan to make that a reality so people know what they are expected to do.

Levelling is a nice option as people can play chars they don't normally play , I've never played a lock that would be nice to try or a healing monk.

I will be returning to wow so I would definitely be up for this. Also im from westmath so what hours would this be from ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 208 ✭✭Valdez

Awesome Guys, Give me a couple of days and I will make a start date and signups on my website. we can meet up or play from home. maybe even play from home and meet up once a month? also think we just all start new characters. leveling is a breeze now, especially if we do it together. we will fly through the levels. I got a big COD Ghost event next week so maybe it will start after that. but I am really looking forward to this and learning more about the game from you guys. I have been playing since it was released. but there's always more to learn with wow.

I could be interested in this, have been out of the game for a while now. I do shift work though so availability can be a problem.

I'll keep an eye on the thread in case anything gets sorted.

Oh I think this sounds just too good to pass, esp as Ballyer would be convenient driving distance for me. I'd be particularly interested in a reroll project, I always find those great craic (not to mention useful if its a new forming guild for the group too). I've also playing since vanilla launch I'm not a strong PVP player but do well with PVP healing. Very comfortable with all aspects of PVE play (I think!) though haven't been a progressive raider since Cat.

Looking forward to the potential of this idea :)

Alright fine the idea of meeting other people who enjoy wow as much as me would be cool. But that will never happen, id say maybe 1 or 2 would show up from boards to your store.

Calhoun would you show up or are you all talk?

And as many of you have seen or wrote in previous threads, too much money for something that will just fall apart. Stop giving the man hopes that this will turn into something, maybe his locals would enjoy it, but the majority of people on boards are just all talk. If the times for this meet up were clear of my work hours, i would honestly go and pay the small fee of €45, pffftt... pocket change on a night out really. Even a man on the rock and role would be able to afford that.

If memory serves, you got ultra aggressive and defensive when you proposed a boards guild on a realm everyone joined, and you got some valid criticsm for it. As you had no direction, vision or guided direction, like most "boards wow guilds" have done through the years.

As a project this sounds enticing and interesting. But I agree with you that there is a tendancy for people on the forum to go mad for something, and when push comes to shove, they just let interest fizzle.

There is enough dead guilds in the garbage can on here to know what the problems are, and it's direction.

Specificy exactly what the intention of the guild is

This seems to be joining a new realm, making a new character, and levelling together. Brilliant. Sounds a very good idea, really good for people new to the game or coming back.

Personally have no interest as I'm not rolling new chars on a new realm, that when they hit 90, will probably turn idle. These ideas alays falter when it comes to endgame, and WoW is about endgame. Levelling is grand and fine, for alot of people, like me, it's a chore. A process I've gone through ten times, as have many others.

Guilds on boards try to cater to the masses. "We will PVP, we will PVE, rated BG's, we will do everything". Inevitably they fall flat on it's arse.

unfortunately my experience of Wow boards guilds or projects that cater to the masses, ends up being active for a few weeks before people start to drop off. You either specialise in something specific, or don't bother imo. The day's of "omg let's play together cause we are from the same country" are long since gone in WoW to be fair, and I think in general that's gone in gaming in general.

 Are you trolling? You think everyone's lives are measured by money spent on drinking or being on the dole? Because only young single dudes play games?

I could drop 45 quid for a potential server/faction transfer in theory, but in my case, I don't want to move any of my 90s. Also I happen to enjoy levelling :) Account bound heirlooms, Archy items and even Timeless Isle tokens mean getting a new char to i496 is painless. I'd also be open to grouping via Battletags but am currently heavily biased on one faction which limits me somewhat, but that could be remedied with a few hours to cap one of my existing chars.

Personally speaking I like to take on a variety wow projects, including ones with finite timeframe - all going to plan this week I'll complete a long running server/faction reroll for the purpose of Herald of the Titans. I'm not looking to leave my existing guild and server community, but I like the idea of playing wow with a new group of people on a regular, but not fulltime basis.

I quite like the idea of this as a social project or a reroll one.

Right now i have 6-7 chars on ravencrest (social), 1 normal geared healer on ragnaros (could be starting HC's soon), healer and hunter on defias for pvp. the 45 euro is not an issue for me but why would i move characters that are in established setups for this?

Unless its well thought out and there is a concrete plan on what we are doing i am not interested, i also prefer a reroll project a bit more but i would move a char if there was the right setup in mind.

To your point on giving him hope, its a two way street. I havent seen him post much here before and this could be viewed as an attempt at generating business. Once there is a concrete plan however and everyone is happy with it then things will progress.

It also goes without saying it would be wise if you cooled it a little bit, as much as people may not put in effort what will drive more away is someone pushing it over zealously. Calling people cheap and applying pressure just turns them away.

It Can hardly be an established setup if people dont switch over to his server. He cant do much on his own unless people actually put some effort in and switch, but as i said earlier the majority of boards members just talk the talk.

This is something you would hear from a scrub in a raiding guild. Until you have it on farm im not gonna join.
