Sounds like the standard school medical exam.

No, but maybe posting about it here isn't a great idea unless you've taken an official line of action first?

Are you sure the children weren't fondled and were actually medically examined?

One thing I find very interesting here. My thread is tagged with the words "Nonsense" "Garbage". Strange, when you consider that I created the thread, therefore its up to me to create the tags, But I did not tag it with those 2 words. Is there someone here a little scared of relevations coming out????????????????????? Huh??????????????????

I went to primary school in late 80s/early 90s. I remember this exam. No teachers were involved. A female doctor and a 1-2 female nurses.

They did it when i was in school..it always created a big stir amongst the kids.
A fat nurse would arrive and give you a going over..you were weighed, measured and had your eyes and teeth looked at.
The highlight(not) was when she cupped your balls and told you to cough..this,i later found out was to test for improperly descended testicles.

I went to school in the 70's early 80's and don't remember this. One exam for spinal development but that was lift your shirt and a female nurse had a look, no pictures of our wobbly bits involved.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I was in primary school in the mid 80's I remember getting an exam but I stayed in my vest and knickers I had to walk on a sponge floor in my bare feet it was something to do with posture I think and it was nurses doing it

Have you taken official action on this?

If any of these things mentioned above did happen at your school I would not think that here is the place to be discussing it.

If any of my teachers or anyone in authority had ever done any of that to me I would be sickened at the thought that it is being discussed in this forum.

Surely there is a more appropriate place for it.

    Already mentioned by another poster:

You would want to be very sure of facts before you go making a sweeping statement on here about the HSE.

I'm not saying that I don't believe it happened, just this isn't the place.

Yeah I remember this test you just had to remove your shirt. They put a ruler or something on your back and then you put your shirt back on.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse
"physical contact with the child's genitals, viewing of the child's genitalia without physical contact, or using a child to produce child pornography".

Both eaminers were male. 1 was the headmaster. A headmaster is not a doctor. The letters were issued by HSE. Any wonder there is loads of images of naked kids on the net.

Well the idea that teachers would,in cahoots with sinister agents from the HSE molest an entire class full of children and then tell the parents, seems to be stretching credulity a bit.

I remember the exam, but I dont remember any pictures taken.... That does sound iffy...

Standard AH sick joke: I wonder if they sold the ploaroids on the way out, could you get them made into a key ring?

    I disgust myself :(

The net wasn't so huge in the 80's.

I remember the exam you are talking about, no one took a picture. It actually mate a pleasant change from the Brother who was our headmaster beating the **** out of us.

The back test was for scoliosis (sp?) curvature of the spine..

Having to cough while a doctor checks testicles is one thing...

But the OP is saying they took photographs???

Never heard of that in my life..

    I was in primary school 1972 - 1980

Maybe cameras weren't invented yet :D

I don't think that is a good idea.

were the letters on HSE headed paper? given that it was established in 2001 that's some pretty good foresight.

edit: opinion guy got the dates right!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭opinion guy

Ya see OP there is one huge flaw with your post that kinda destroys your credibility.

The HSE did not exist in the 1980's. The HSE was established by the Health Act, 2004 and came into existence on 1 January 2005.
