Just noticed this section here, so since most of us will be using this section at night, I guess I'd make a thread asking what motivates you to stay up? Is it work? Hobbies? Naghty websits? (joking ;) )

Anyway for me it's work, I work with a lot of people over the world who are 6 hours behind, so it results in me having to stay up pretty late.

Aye, the real reason I stay up is to make your life crappy :)

Never been a fan of that "first post" nonsence.

Think I took a wrong turn at Television and somehow ended up in here. I stay up late cause it's the only time I can quietly plan my world domination in peace. That and the naughty websites you alluded to :)

It's a lot to do with sports on ''across the pond'' and elsewhere.
    Also - Football Manager

I work all different shifts. My body clock is all kinds of messed up because of it.

    It's all good

I work nights and sleep during the day, my life is pretty much 8 or 10 hours behind regular folks at this point

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,138 ✭✭✭takola

I just don't sleep much anymore.

I find going to bed boring so i like to stay up online or watching movies and/or eating crisp sandwiches.

Bedtime wasnt always boring but tinnitus can be a drag :(

I stay up late, Because its the only time I get Control of the remote...
And also because I drink massive amounts of coffee during the day..

I stay up late cos I keep finding things to watch on tv then around 5 or 6 I'll nod off for 2 or 3 hours. This does catch up with me at the weekend where i can make up my hours.

I sometimes have difficulty sleeping and will try anything to avoid looking at the ceiling for hours in my room-internet, TV (love late night QI), reading etc.

You have this forum now too :)

Yup. Ha, why am I posting in it now?

It would be cool if the forum only "switched on" after 1.15am or something like that? You'd only find it on the dropdown menu after that time, up until 5.30am?

In the prototype charter it was 10pm -8 am. Anytime the sun is down is nocturnal :)

    Intro:
I stay up late as I don't work, (except at the weekends) and am usually sorting out songs, renaming IDV-3 Tags etc. Oh and surfin dem dodgy websitez!

Also I let Mrs Spider watch what she has recorded on Sky+! (She hates the ads and can skip them!!) But usually we toddle off to bed about 2am. I was up early today as I had bad back pain.

Time zones keep me away at "night" aka the day. Tis all very confusing. I have boards set to Irish time so I have to convert to figure out when the last post was in loads of threads.

The worst is that by the time the back-up comes around you've applied to all the threads you're going to reply to and then nobody replies to you so boards gets very lonely! Hopefully the notcurnal forum will fix that!

I prefer staying up late because there's an immense satisfaction in sleeping during the afternoon!

This sounds rather antisocial, BUT...if you stay up all night and sleep during the day, you won't see all the unpleasant people that you normally do!
Grumpy parents, immature housemates, etc, etc!
Plus, sleeping always does feel so much better during the day. And the campus internet can get up to near 4MB/sec at 4am :D

I'm in a coffeehouse now, sipping the java, and consequently bright-eyed and bushy tailed! They stay open weeknights until 11PM, and it's only 8:46PM in Newport Beach, so the night is still young!
