I'd be more inclined to dump the 640MB 8800GTS, Get the 320MB 8800GTS and get your self an extra 1GB of RAM. The difference between the 320 & 640 isn't huge either, the extra Ram will help alot more.

    Bought from komplet..

    Gigabyte GA-G33-DS3R, G33, Socket-775, ATX, GbLAN, DDR2, VGA, 1333FSB, PCI-Ex16 : €125
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz 1333Mhz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan : €155
    Club3D GeForce 8800GTS 320MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, HDCP, Dual DVI, Retail : €275
    Samsung SpinPoint T166 250GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM : €59
LG DVD±RW burner, GSA-H62NRBBB, SATA, Dual, Black OEM : €35
    Gigabyte GZ-X1 Black : €43
    Hiper PSU ATX 580W Black, Type-M, 120mm Fan, 18dB, 4xSATA, 2xPCI-E, 20/24pin : €80
    OCZ Platinum DDR2 PC6400 2048MB KIT, w/two 1024MB PC6400 XTC, CL4-5-4-15 : €107

    Total: €815

Better quality system there, IMO. With the decent PSU, solid case, 2GB's of RAM, better motherboard.

EDIT: I'm just after noticing he was buying it off ankermann. Thought he said was buying the components off OCuk :(

    Hj

Yep, change the board and ram.

Actually, change it all and buy it from somewhere else. Do a self build. In that build you have a crap board, generic ram of a tiny ammount, a never heard of power supply maker. A waste of money litescribe drive. Crappy onboard sound, a absolutly useless cooler and a nasty looking case.

Just go with a komplett.ie bundle for the cpu mobo and ram and pick the rest yourself.

Just remember, the power supply is the one thing you should not go with a cheap maker, Its fine for graphics cards as they will all be the reference nvidia design.

Here, ill spec you something a bit better:

    Kit- 6550, mobo, 2gb ram - 370€
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=301189

    Graphics card- 8800gts 320mb 275€
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=332345 -- The reason i picked this is because you most likely do not have a <22" widescreen monitor.

    Case- gigabyte psioden 84€
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=319574

    Psu- hiper 530W 60€
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=322198

Hard drive- Samsung spinpoint 250gb 60€
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=329044

    Dvd+- DL RW- Nec 30€
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=325546

That works out at 879€ for all of that. And its a much better spec. If you don tlike the case you can always change that.

so how would that affect the graphics card

to be honest man, im gettin a new PC aswell

im trying to get almost the same specs as you but I tried buying from www.hardwareversand.de

they are sh*te so far. all german companies do not accept credit card, so you have to pay by bank transfer

I'v never built a PC myself before either, but at this stage I wish I had bought it all from Komplett.ie and built it - a bit of fun, and if u have any problems, people on here will help you

I have a budget of 1600 for my PC, without the monitor - im buying a 22" acer monitor -

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=327183

it will work grand with either of those graphics cards - 320mb or 640mb one

no point in getting the 640mb if u can change it cuz there barely any difference for the price - later u cud upgrade and just get anothre 320mb and put in in SLI (use the two together) which is easy to do, and more powerful :)

    hope this helps

P.S. if i was you, at this stage, I would buy it all off komplett.ie and have a bit of fun making it, and have more choice at the end of the day too

Building a pc is incredibly simple these days, get the parts. put them together, install the operating system. Then the drivers. And you are ready to go. Plus if you get stuck were are all here to help anyway.

yea i know nothing about building pcs but if i had the choice now, I would definitely do it cuz its a bit of fun, and really is as simple as sticking all the parts together - seen a friend do it once, not too hard

seriously man, id go for the komplett list if i was u - not worth all the hastle of the german companies, plus order with komplett and ul get it quickly

Well you will save some money buying from hardwareversand. But i know alot of people like me are not happy with doing a bank transfer. especially as law dictates in this country if the money goes missing there is nothing that can be done about it by the bank, and has to be done through the courts. Where as in germany it is common practice and they are covered.

www.dabs.ie is also worth a look.

yea, I checked the same build of my own that I put together on hardwareversand:

same price on komplett for the exact same thing :( :

    try dabs.ie

    quick and good value

if you are going for a 22" go for the 640mb it can really help with higher reses.

just get the cheapest 640mb gts you can off komplett as they are all refrence cards .

The best thing to do would be to stick with a smaller monitor for now maybe a 19" non widescreen. And This Card will do you perfectly.

Dabs offer great service and delivery.

could i get away with a 20-21" monitor

    also whats better this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=332345

    or

    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4FFD&CategorySelectedId=11137&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11137,14

also i see that komplett graphic card is back instock

The one from dabs would be slightly faster, as its ram and core speeds as above standard. Plus XFX have great custoemr care and long warrentys.

But the difference will be hardly noticible, maybe 1 or 2 frams a second more in games. So i suppose go for the one from komplett to save on delivery charges.
