hey guys,

fancy treating myself to a new guitar for my b-day, but im torn between a new electric and my first acoustic.
but then I thought why not get both?, before realising that I couldnt afford to

... or could I?
basically I want a guitar that's loud enough unplugged to play at house parties and the like, but with a fast neck,low action and comfortable body.
is a thinline electo acoustic, such as the yamaha apx5, gonna do the job for me ?
opinions and comments welcome, but bear in mind im left handed so alot of models wont be available to me and there's
no such thing as going to guitar shops and trying out a bunch of different guitars.

will you be wanting to play rock type electric guitar music with this new guitar? ie: use any overdrive?

a hollow bodied electric rather that a semi acoustic is probably what your after

the ibanez looks really nice, unfortunately dont think they make a lefty version. sigh.
also, how loud are hollowbody electrics unplugged, compared to a normal acoustic
budget of up to 500 i guess, maybe a lil more if i find something special.

loud enough but they are designed to be plugged...much louder than most solid bodied guitars
but your problem will be the fact that your a lefty. my friend is a sinister bastard too and getting guitars is the bain of his existence. contact thomann.de and they might be able to order you in lefty versions.

looks like the guitar i want doesnt exist, or rather it does,but i cant afford it

typical eh?
still, currently thinking either a nice acoustic, possibly the yamaha i mentioned originally or a dean performer, or feylyas electic/microcube idea

The piezo's aren't going to make it sound like an acoustic when it's unplugged though.

quick question: whats the problem using overdrive with an acousitc? afaik there are plenty of artists when do, and surely there's ways of overcoming feedback?
