Smart meter installed but still getting estimates

My Day / Night smart meter was installed a couple of months ago. My plan is to better understand my usage for a while before considering a change to a smart plan / going down the solar panels route.

I presumed that my bills would now be based on exact use even if I didn't move to a plan but my most recent bill is still an estimate. I can see my usage on the ESB Networks website.

SSE Airtricity have emailed me asking if I want to move to a Time of Use tariffs? A choice of two types Interval and Non Interval. Are they smart plans or do I need to sign up to one of them for SSE to start using my meter for billing?

I don't know the specific answer to your question re interval and non-interval. You should not have estimates with smart meter.

Time of use tariff is a smart tariff.

When on a DN Smart meter (RM108) ESBN reports to your supplier a reading every 2 months for Day and Night. If you scroll down on the ESB usage page, you can see the meter read history.

Your bills should be currently based on the exact use, but instead of a person coming to read your meter, ESBN get it via the smart meter. Does the ESBN show estimates or actual reads?

Time of use that SSE are calling them, is smart tariff.

Good to know it's a smart tariff which I'm not ready for. On the ESB Networks page its under Smart Meter heading and is a detailed break down by hour.

Side question, the ESB data looks very detailed and I'm sure I could analyse it all but is there a tool that will look at it and show me patterns?

There are two that I know of. A website, and an Android app.

I wrote the app 😁. There is a discussion here

ESBN, have a challenge with export data at the moment. I got a call yesterday to say it was fixed, but it's not -- at least for me. If you don't export, is a non issue.

I just published the latest version 1.31 which fixes the MPRN listing issue, and adds HomeAssistant as a data source. Might take a couple of hours to become fully available.

Below the breakdown, does it show the interval meter reads?

Day/night meter (that happens to also be Smart) is still handled by suppliers as if its a normal old style day/night meter, hence you do still get prompted to submit a reading and possibly meter reader will still check occasionally!
Thats seems to be the case with Energia anyway! Is a bit crazy as my FIT is read automatically!

Smart meters are read automatically if they are communicating properly.

But act as if a person has read them, but it is read remotely.(Every 2 months)

I have a meter read from the 28th march, but nobody was actually around to read my meter.

Energia just haven't changed their system, and I don't blame them either, just don't put a meter read in, and they will use the actual read from ESBN

for those of us with PV it is currently a financially wise move to move to a smart meter as FIT is very high
