How about posting photos and video's of a rapidly changing Dublin?..

I've some old photo's of home of Ballymun during my childhood, including recent photos taken of the 'flats' where I lived and soon to be knocked down and gone forever which I can include.

I think it would be nice to record people's pix & vid's of Dublin in one thread.

Anyone remember the snow of 1982..

A bit of a smarmy patronising caption there. How prevalent was contraception anywhere in 1950?

It'd be dunnes now. Looking across to where the Cigar emporium (fine establishment)is now. Captain americas was probably there even then!

    I'm a bit puzzled.

Is it the west or east side of Grafton Street?

Isn't Dunnes Stores on the west side opposite Captain Americas etc. And if that picture is where Dunnes is now, where is Tangier Lane which runs at the side of Dunnes?

IIRC correctly, Dunnes Stores occupy two adjoining buildings on Grafton Street. One is quite plain while the other is ornate with the word "Waterproofers" (from a previous business) still on it.

Thay are standing at Tangier wishbone on the west side of street looking across to the east side.
The Orson wells figure has followed the lady with the Enigma codemaker in her bag outta Nearys.

Good idea but there could be a copyright issue with posting pics. Probably best to cite the source or name of photographer

.... but now that I think about it - if they are standing on the west side of Grafton Street, how could they be looking at what is now Dunnes Stores which would be behind the photographer?

Nothing special about this vid but you do see a bit of Raheny and Drumcondra in it.

Aghhh...they are not looking at Dunnes Wishbone. They are standing outside what is now Dunnes. On the same side of road as Dunnes.

You were right. It is the North Strand Rd where it begins at the Five Lamps.
