Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Mojang account in sons name?

    Hello, my 9 year old son wants the java version of Minecraft, He has the win 10 paid version and plays it with his friends when they come over. Now he watches a lot of youtubers and wants the java version so he can play in all the cool worlds he sees there.I realise there will be a learning curve there with modding and stuff and English being his second language but its his own money and he has being nagging me for ages.
    anyway i want him to make his own account on Mojang so what do others(eg.parents)do about the email address,make an email address for him? use their own? It will be my credit card obviously but at least if/when he has his own computer he has his own account.
    another question i have is his age, are their any restrictions if the account is made with his proper age?
    any and all comments welcome as im sure i will be back with more questions

    You can use any email account you want, just make sure it's one you/he can access in case he loses the password.

    There are no restrictions on age for the game in general, lots of young children play it. A lot of multiplayer servers will be unsuitable for young kids, though.
