Definition (Wiki)

Paranormal is a general term that designates experiences that lie outside "the range of normal experience or scientific explanation” or that indicates phenomena understood to be outside of science's current ability to explain or measure. Paranormal phenomena are distinct from certain hypothetical entities, such as dark matter and dark energy, only insofar as paranormal phenomena are inconsistent with the world as already understood through empirical observation coupled with scientific methodology.

General

This forum is a place where people with an interest in the above can talk about and discuss any issues relating to any relevant phenomena. It is important to remember that this does not mean that posters of a skeptical disposition are prevented from contributing to threads, furthermore, the opinions of people who speculate on the nature of phenomenon not proven by scientific background should be respected. The purpose of this forum is discussion.

If you disagree vehemently with another poster’s belief in the paranormal please feel free to express your own opinion but unless you can link to definitive scientific evidence to contradict a paranormal explanation your alternative opinion is no more valid than anyone else. Please remember this and post accordingly. Please refrain from comedic replies that offer nothing in the way of conversation, post constructively or don't post at all. No proof of the paranormal is expected or should be demanded.

Forum Specific Rules

• Discussion of or encouragement of or organising of events which aim to break the law of the State primarily through the organisation of paranormal investigations will not be permitted. The forum will not facilitate the organisation of paranormal investigations on private property without the consent of the property owners.
• No flaming, baiting, trolling, or playing the comedian. Constructive posting only please.
• All posts should be relevant & on topic
• No personal abuse of any kind
• Don't back-seat moderate, report posts you feel require mod attention instead.
• Don't argue with a mod or a mod decision on thread. Please pm a forum mod to discuss your concerns.
• Be courteous & civil at all times
• Moderators may use their discretion to remove any thread/post they see fit if deemed in breach of rules/against the spirit of the forum.
• Do not identify or speculate as to the identity of a poster, not only is this specific to this forum, but is actually a site-wide rule {Section 5 Bullet-point 5}
• A Mod decision is final, if you disagree with an infraction or ban feel free to take it to the pm level. If your still not happy, there is a Dispute Resolution Procedure you can follow. Don't argue with a mod on thread
• The rules mentioned are by no means all-inclusive. If you're acting the fool, but not breaking any of these rules, we'll still come down on you. If you think you shouldn't do something, you're probably right

Sceptical & Unexplained Mysteries debate

There is an option for sceptical discussion. If you wish to start a thread primarily for a skeptical discussion and do not wish to include the opinions of people who believe in the paranormal nature of unexplained phenomenon please use the [Sceptic] tag when creating your thread. Similarly, to discuss an unexplained mystery that may/may not be of a paranormal nature, just use the [Mysterious[ tag when creating your thread.

Psychics and Mediums

All threads relating to or discussing anything involving the aspects of individual psychics or mediums can be posted in the Psychics and Mediums forum. This forum has its own charter, so please familiarise yourself with it before posting.

Moderator Actions

In general, first time offences will be viewed as such by the forum moderators (inadvertent rule breaches). However, subsequent breaches of this charter will result in moderators taking action such as issuing an official warning, issuing an infraction, or indeed a forum ban.
