Pornography Addiction- Research Trinity College Dublin

New study seeks men in Ireland over the age of 18 who compulsively use
internet pornography.

This study will explore the psychological experience of men who engage in compulsive use of internet pornography, sometimes referred to as “porn addiction”, who experience psychological distress as a result of their use.

Researchers from Trinity College Dublin are seeking to interview men who engage in
compulsive use of internet pornography to explore their psychological experience and the personal meaning they make of such use. This study will involve one-to-one interviews with individuals and will look at how the phenomenon of compulsive pornography use has impacted the lives of those that take part.

While compulsive use of pornography is a major source of distress for many men, their personal experience of such use and the place it fits into their lives, is under researched. It is hoped that this research will address this in some way. It is also hoped that this will add to the literature informing clinical practice going forward.
